I think we all know the score. No need to be snippy with each other. The manager is on thin ice. Results haven’t been good enough. The performance level hasn’t been good enough.
Both will need to see significant improvement if he is to be here next season.
What remains to be seen is whether or not we make a change sooner rather than later. Presumably we would prefer it to be more orderly, and in summer … but, if it gets bad enough before then, the decision makers will be forced to act, pending the availability of a suitable candidate.
Hopefully we win tomorrow and progress to the knockout stages comfortably in the end. Then let’s see how we go back in the Prem.
FWIW I think Slot is a very good manager and has shown it by winning the league in two different countries. Sometimes good managers can lose their way a bit, and it might not work out for myriad reasons, but he is a title winning Liverpool manager and he has my respect.

I understand that, but I still don’t like it. I hate that there are people sitting above him in the structure who have also made mistakes and contributed to the mess we’re in, and they never have to account for themselves, while Arne is wheeled out continually to answer to issues that are only partly his fault.
Basically the club has decreased the importance and status of the manager (now head coach) which increasing the status of the sporting director. And yet the manager is still required to front up every shit thing that happens. I don’t think it’s fair, and I think that Hughes should be more visible.
I know he could deal with stuff better, but the poor cunt knows his job is handing by a thread, and that must make it ten times worse, and he is now in a position where there is literally nothing he can say that would satisfy his detractors. Would it hurt for Hughes to front up a little bit?

I can’t think of one beyond occasional puff pieces. End of the day it’s a results business and that means on the pitch.
Could have Hughes sniping to the press through sources and then saying nothing. Occasional piece on LFC website wouldn’t hurt but I do think it’s a bit silly to expect much more.

I can’t agree with that. When we went out to PSG we were by far the form team in Europe and we were cruising the league. If anything, another competition with 2 quarter and 2 semi final games may have kept us from switching off as we did. Unfortunately Arne is sounding very much like a man who is really feeling the pressure and trying to manage expectations off the pitch Brendan style.

Sporting directors normally stay out of the limelight. When they start appearing in front of cameras (especially commenting on performance) it’s usually read as stepping into the manager’s territory and often looks undermining/interfering.
If Hughes did speak, we’d almost certainly criticise him for it. As a fanbase we’d interpret it as internal tensions (or the dreaded vote of confidence), narrative-shaping, or deflecting blame. Great example is PSG. Every time Leonardo spoke, it was widely viewed as destabilising the manager rather than helping !

Seems to have been some narrative about Hughes, and Edwards, created very early on in our slump and has just seemed to rumble on despite numerous very self explanatory posts to the contrary.

Embarrassing the club now with his only won 2 titles in 30 years and thats not even true. Yes he won title with klopps squad but we been on the slide for 13 months now and has admitted he dont know how to break down a low block has little effect on players out on the pitch , afraid to play youth players, freezes out a few players he dont like, insulted Ramsay but not clever enough to know he did.
I think hes a bald fraud and this country still allows freedom of speech.

IMO Slot needs to stop focusing on how often Liverpool have won the PL in the last 3 decades, with which he indirectly pats himself on the back & focus on why we have only won 5 PL matches since the end of September.
