We are short of legs all over the pitch and even Arne says we tire in the last 10 minutes, so we need those midfielders to play in midfield to rest some legs.
Re; ramsay,
Klopp saw something in Ransay that he liked,
Thats good enough for me,
Time for slot to swallow his pride and give the lad a chance
But Klopp is no longer here, so it is down to what Slot envisions the team structure to look like and if Ramsey fits that structure or not.
Remember Old Whisky Nose wrote off Hendo because of his running style, yet Klopp made him the lynchpin of our team and built the team around Hendo’s workrate and graft. Different managers see things differently, so as fans we need to accept that Slot sees Ramsey differently to Klopp and move on
i get what yoru saying about different managers having different opinions about players,
but i’m not asking for Slot to make Ramsay the lynchpin of the team,
i asking him to give Ramsay a game whilst we are short of players in that position, instead of playing Dom at RB where we miss his energy and his will to win in midfield, which Grav and Macca havent shown enough of this season
So you see Ramsey in training every day then do you?
As fans, we only see 0.1% of what goes on at the club and in the lives of the players. If Slott is choosing to not play him, then he has a reason, and no amount of saying Klopp said this and Klopp said that is going to change the fact the what Arne is seeing every day is not convincing him that Ramsey is an option
By far the most annoying aspect of Slot’s management. He’d rather jeopardize his own chances to win games, instead of giving a chance to someone he doesn’t favour. The most egregious example was the League Cup final when he put Gakpo on 20 minutes before Chiesa. Gakpo was rushed back from injury, was clearly unfit, did nothing of note and was a waste of a sub. Chiesa in his customary emergency minutes got a goal and came close to a second.
But even going past the results, how is any young player supposed to develop under Slot? When is he going to play? A few days ago he said that he has 17 year old Ngumoha for chasing the game. How is that supposed to be beneficial for his development?
Slot will always be appreciated for the title, but it’s time to part ways.
Maybe, Ramsay is indeed not good enough. The problem is that Slot doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt. Morton wasn’t deemed good enough to get a chance and he is doing really well in France. We won’t know until we actually see him on the pitch and that’s not going to happen with Slot.
If we miss out on the Champions League next season, one or two of our better players might want to leave the club this summer. It also makes it more difficult to attract top players to sign for us. It would be a massive loss to the club’s finances which I don’t think FSG will put up with. For me, it’s qualify or Slot will be gone.
How does Slot not get the benefit of doubt? He sees the player in training every day. The only way a manager can make a judgement is by seeing what a player does on the training pitch and then decide if they deserve a chance or not. Players have to earn the right to be selected and if Slot is not selecting Ramsey, then it is obvious that he hasn’t done enough to earn a spot in the team.
As for Morton, I am disappointed that he got sold, but lets not kid ourselves that the French league is actually a good barometer of judging a players level of ability. Plenty of players move from the French league to the Premier League and flop.
We just bought a 60 mil. defender from the French league. And Slot doesn’t get the benefit of the doubt because it’s not just Morton. It’s Quansah and Elliott and Endo and Chiesa. If we go by whom Slot rates, the first team should be composed of 16-17 players.
Play Endo.
No i dont see Ramsay in training every day obviously…
However i did see him play in his debut season and win a win player of the year award.
I’ve also seen him in his handful of liverpool appearances and he didnt seem out of place or make any mistakes
Hes not good enough apparently…
But with the injuies he has had since making his debut, only the coaches that see him on a daily basis know how his development has been effected.
For all we know, he might not be P/L standard anymore, the only ones capable of making that judgement are the ones that see him every day
He effectively our 7th choice RB so why put him on the bench if you already have players on the pitch and the bench who are going to play before him. He’s never getting on in any position, let alone his own so why do that?
Slot’s gone at the end of the season, if not sooner. It’s inevitable.
If he turns our form around it still won’t be enough because it only confirms that he was responsible for our earlier poor performances and he was simply incapable of correcting matters sooner.
The talk of bringing greater control to our play I saw for 6 months. For the last 12 that’s disappeared.
For all the concern about who could replace him I’m confident there’s a strong cohort of managers we could appoint who would get a lot more out of this group.
In case we need him.
When that is and in which situation, who knows.
He might be behind someone like Endo, if that’s the limit where different players out of position who have filled in at RB stops and Ramsay gets picked.
Poor guy. ![]()
I would think this would depend on whether the board think he has learned from the experience, and how likely he would be to repeat his errors. And, just how good the board see the alternative options on the market.
That doesn’t really answer the question though. We could have 6 RBs on the bench and another on the pitch and your answer would be the same, “in case anything happens the 1 in front of him”.
The truth of the matter is we have 2 RBs, 1 CB and 3 MFs in front of him for the RB spot. At his best Ramsey should be ahead of at least the 3 midfielders. If he’s on the bench then he is ready to be put in. If he’s ready to be put on then it’s just match fitness and sharpness he needs. You don’t get that sitting on the bench.
We all seen when Ramsey joined and he looked an excellent prospect. More recently we’ve seen him perform as 1 of our better players against a full Palace side. Between then and now that performance deserved another look given our struggles to keep a RB on the pitch.
The reason a perfectly good RB is not getting his game in this case is because Slot isn’t prepared to give him that opportunity often enough. He is afraid to take the chance, not for the player or the club but for himself. That to me is a bigger problem as it means unless we are dominant or desperate, no young players are going to get enough game time.
This is what most people here seems to forget in the Nat/Rhys story.
It was as infuriating with Klopp then as it is now with Slot, everybody could see playing Fabinho in defense, removed what was needed in midfield. Now it’s the same, but with Slot and Szobo.
