Arne Slot - Head Coach

Football is like cooking.

Sometimes you throw ingredients together and they taste like Satan squatted on your plate, see Heston’s smooth chicken liver and foie gras parfait designed to look exactly like a mandarin orange, complete with a mandarin jelly skin and a stalk.

Sometimes you think WTF but it’s goddamn delicious and you wonder who the fuck decided to put those two things together, like blue cheese and pear.

You never really know.

49?

If Liverpool wanted to close the door on the Slot speculation, all they’d have to do is extend him.

Extend him?

Like… put him on the rack?

Like there would zero point in extending at this time.

Yeah looks like we are going to list into the end of the season, and stick with whatever plan they have. Given the holes in the first team, us having to recruit extensively again this summer, Id say it’s still another part of next season until we hit some menacing form. Best we can hope for its to stay in the CL places, and fluke the FA Cup.

Just no real point is there. He’s got another year his form until a 2-3 weeks back was some of the worst ever.

Fans demanding they back him or sack him are just unhinged losers. Who are more interested in winning an argument on social media than to see us do well. At this moment I would remove him at the end of the season.

He has 4 months to prove it was a blip.

If he stabilises now and maintains it to the end of the season, he’ll get next season too. It’s actually hard to make any sense of at the moment, because the club haven’t half dealt him a card here, and there is too much in flux. I agree though, if he falters again, and embarrasses us, they’ll probably have to deal with it. Being corporatists though, they’ll want their plan to deliver.

It was the shock of the drop in performance that caught us all off guard.

He will definitely get an extension if he wins a cup and get CL places.

Agree. And it’s precisely the amazing thing. That a well drill unit is almost better than being world class individuals

We were very well drilled, but also had quality players all over the pitch, not trying to pretend otherwise. Were they all of Vigil’s quality for example, of course not.

To be honest, I still want him out. On top of his horrid performance this season so far, he is never interested in utilizing academy/squad players.

Look at the last season, he could have given the likes of Morton, Quansah or a few other young/squad players game time and opportunities after winning the League early. But nope, he still essentially used the same team bar TAA, even when there was no stake at all in the last few matches.

If we somehow win the CL they will give him a new contract during the summer break.

Maybe they same if we the FA Cup and a Top4 finish.

Still think we will go into next season with him if with finish 5th (CL qualification). But then their would be constant speculation about his future from the start of next season.

This is a good point. We practically won the last of our Carabao cups with Klopp’s kids. Jurgen knew how to balance the squad out with just the right seniors.

Arne doesn’t even bother. It’s not even an afterthought.

Is memory correct in saying that Klopp had to “learn” this as well?

I’m inclined to say no. Klopp has always relied on and nurtured young talent. Gündo, Hummels, and Götze come to mind immediately. That was simply normal for him and continued in Liverpool.

You can’t really compare them; Jürgen and Slot are worlds apart in how they deal with kids.

Maybe the kids aren’t doing what Slot wants them to.

We would probably have seen more of the likes of Nyoni and Rio had we been in form generally - when things are going bad, the youth team tend to get less time on the pitch. I assume that we’d have seen a bit of Jayden Danns if he’d been fit this season.

Furthermore, Jürgen was the one who initiated the move to leave Melwood back then, to be closer to the academy. Who knows if that would happen again today? Slot isn’t exactly the type to show up at youth games very often. I have no idea if he’s ever even been there; unfortunately, we haven’t heard anything about it.
