Arne Slot - Head Coach

Supported somewhat by us leading in most stats in CL play during our bad period

That’s fair enough I suppose, sounds like smart business not gifting a coach too long.

Is that even true that Brentford and Chelsea’s managers have contracts until 2032 ?

What like are they being paid a fiver per match appearance or something until they inevitably lose their job.

progression

What progression?

Been re-watching the Sunderland game, Arne?

He’s not wrong

In fact he’s right. Lumping it forward, long throws. Tedious.

It’s like the eighties, all over again

Cannot decide if the PL is basically the Crazy Gang/Wimbledon or George Graham’s Arsenal?

But without the shoulder pads and the perms.

And bloody Thatcher!

Almost as tedious as watching whatever his own plan has been all season.

I jokingly made the point about Carrick and the United upturn in the match thread.

I just hope this season doesn’t fully become what if we had sacked him in December.

The last season under Jurgen we scored lots of goals and were too open and therefore conceded too many goals.

When Arne came in he initially changed this and made us hard to score against, whilst still scoring.

This slowly eroded to the extent where we now don’t look like scoring and still have a ‘soft belly’ and the opposition seem to cut through us and always have chances.

Worse thing we have had the most awful luck with deflections and things like Cody taking the ball off CUJO when he was certain to score.

For me Arne has to go and some players need to join him, If Alonso is available and would come I would change now!

Tbh , he has to go, even if we somehow get CL football, we are boring and predictable and he just does not look like he has what it takes anymore

I get facing the media in this situation is tough, but Slot is on cloud cookoo land with the comments made to the US tv. A round up of the “chances” we had suggesting this result was tough on us…with very little acknowledgement of how utterly dire it was. We are playing over and over again in a way that turns games into something decided by a series of coin flips across 4 or 5 incidents. It could be 4-1, or it could be 2-3 with those disparate results requiring no difference in the result. We have done almost nothing over the course of months to change the balance of the games. It’s not just dire, its the lack of vision for it being better.

What is he supposed to say? There is literally nothing he can say at this point in his contractually obliged media duties that people aren’t going to jump on.

It’s games that this one where I think managers should be able to play five ‘Look, just fuck off will you’ cards with the media and just go home.

We’re hearing now that that Arne Slot has decided to play his ‘Look, just fuck off will you’ card this evening, so apologies that we won’t be able to bring you his thoughts. And also apologies for the bad language

This is really tiresome. I get it. It’s everyone else who is too entrenched in their position to evaluate Slot fairly.

That was an awful insipid performance. If this was a one off performance he might be justified in complaining that we lost because of an unlucky roll of the dice, but this is just how we play now. I dont want to hear my manager act like we just need to get luckier

We were poor. The only time we showed any intensity was when we went behind. Twice. Ugh.

We did not get the points we needed, or see much in our play that would give us more hope for the run in. It’s our good fortune that other teams have been inconsistent, so finishing in the CL spots is still there to fight for.

But this was another important data point - and there have been far too many, that suggests Slot will not come out of an end of season review with his job.

I could be wrong, but even as a longstanding defender of Slot, with a real determination to give a Premier League winning manager the benefit of the doubt, the signs point toward a summer exit.

I will never bad mouth him, and I hope he does enough over the remainder of the season to give his bosses a hell of a difficult task when it comes to his review, as right now it seems fairly inevitable. And I hate saying that.
