Arne Slot - Head Coach

Hmm, which historically unreliable sauce to believe there?

Unless the bottom falls out completely, he’ll last until the end of the season. If we qualify for the CL next year, he might buy himself some the summer and start of next season but he’d need to hit the ground running.

There’s also the parallels of Rodgers and Klopp that’s tickling the back of my mind. FSG wanted Klopp, he said no, so they appointed Rodgers and were prepared to wait. If FSG have decided that Alonso is the one they wanted to take over from Klopp (and we have no clue if that’s the case or not) and he’s now available, then…

So they’re 3rd. I still don’t see anything important enough to bring them into the discussion…

Liverpool have become a chore to watch – fans are becoming doubters again

Liverpool have become a draining side to watch and the doubts over their ability to win, or sustain results, is a stark contrast to the belief that previously flowed through the club.

Ouch, but the article is basically about what most have been saying on here.

Ornstein is claiming that the owners remain steadfast behind Slot. Even if that’s the case now, it’s liable to change drastically over the coming months.

Just lifted this from my post in the Rafa thread…

I’d swop him with Slot tomorrow… Bring him back
He is at an age now where he has been there and done it… Why not have one last Hurrah with us and field a team to play without any negative boring tactics and steamroller everyone with scintillating, cavalier football. Get us up on our feet again.
Give him the job and bring him home :0)

:joy: you obviously didn’t watch Liverpool when he was manager

…Of course I did. When money was tight and times were different. Like my post said, he has nothing to prove and nothing to lose at this stage of his career. Give him the freedom to have us play with a swagger

I hear you, but just want to add two of last night’s big winners - Real Madrid and PSG, would of course be very high up in the hypothetical pan-European league.

Hasn’t he always been a pragmatic coach?

…Yeah, we all have seen how Rafa operates, but if he is given the chance of a lifetime by FSG with a specific agenda, what is to stop him from stepping out of character for a few seasons to go out on a high with some swashbuckling football to boot.
Last season I thought Slot looked a good bet to take us forward. However, after watching us this season, and listening to his stale interviews, to me anyway, we are no longer in safe hands.
Rafa would reverse this in an instant

Yeah, cos one round of results totally negates my point.

Anyway, I was wrong about Spurs. They’d find a way to finish 97th.

Never go back. Just don’t do it.

Its ok he will have an epiphany moment which has alluded him for 12 months and everything will be perfect.

This was posted on reddit. :man_facepalming:

As much as I loved Rafa, I wouldn’t want him anywhere near the club now. Totally the wrong person.
