Arne Slot - Head Coach

It is.

Except for England.

Wasn’t the only reason Quansah was starting the first match of last season in the first place is that Ibou had a shortened preseason or wasn’t quite fit? I seem to recall that. Not that that has anything to do with how he was treated by Slot, but it was always going to be Virg and Ibou starting almost every match.

I think you are correct, my bad. Well iv jinxed that then :man_facepalming:t3:

I think it’s very possible at the time Slot thought Quansah might be a better fit in possession, at least to start the season. We changed some things though, when you look at our very first games under Slot and how we did things from deep (and compared to now, of course that losing Trent is an important blow, but we should be able to build well enough from the back without such a player with special skills).

Jota also started the season up top, but didn’t remain there for the whole of the season. Leverkusen at home was an important point when we saw Salah, Gakpo and Diaz up top as a new attacking trio for the first time (when Jota then became almost like 2nd choice and it was slowly the definite end for Nunez). So it’s natural that some things evolve, certain players win/lose their place, etc. Hierarchy wise, I think everyone knew Konate was still our 2nd choice. It takes more to push him out of the team regularly.

For Quansah, that is life at a big club. For Liverpool, if Quansah wanted more regular football immediately and keep the doors a tiny bit open for a possible return one day (to the PL at least, if not to Liverpool), that is also fair enough. Like I said in different topics, I admire players who make such moves and go elsewhere. It’s not like he was in Morton’s situation without any minutes, but he had his goals and so far he’s doing alright, because he’s also an England international.

This was based on an article posted two years ago. TIA chasing clicks as usual. That site really has gone downhill with its clickbait headlines and recycled news.

And when did he say this, end of the season?

He didn’t offer much support after the game and didn’t play him much after.

You miss the other part of my post about singling out the youngest and most inexperienced and then not being consistent wuth other players who have had far worse games and stayed on the pitch.

All of that makes sense to me. I just recall Konate not being quite ready for that first match…perhaps didn’t train much that week…can’t recall the specifics.

Guehi has horseshoes falling out his arse. It worked out well for him in the short run at least, and he definitely could not of fixed the fuckup we are now experiencing.

Are you thinking last season or this one?

Bombing a poor performer for another player is only really an option if there is a better player to replace them with. If he punted all the poor performers this season, he’d be playing the under 21s.

some interesting info here,

Leeds 15th in the league are in 2nd place for distance covered for EPL teams…

Something tells me this thread is going to move Quansah to Salah after the announcement :joy:

Okay, I’ll start. Salah heard that Slot is staying for another season and Mo decided that he cannot handle Slot anymore.

Slot’s not turning it around so they will end up relegated if they did persist.

Personally I think it’s some clearing of the decks and probably what most expected when he signed last summer that we were protecting an asset. Anyhow respect to announce it via the proper channels.

If that is the case do it, also, as with Quansah, if you do it for the 1st, then it sets the tone that the restmust perform and that is why I had no issue with him doing it to Jarrell.

My issue lies with allowing others to get away with poor performance after poor performance.

My kids when growing up knew if they were warned of the consequences of doing something, those consequences would be enacted, no idol threats.

Too mant this season have gotten away with complacency.

Unsure where to put this, but this is dedication, something I feel we lack and many other teams and Pro footballers.

Also, may also explain Jurgens idea of fitness and intensity in training and on the other hand why we are struggling fitness wise in games through lack of physical preparedness under Arne.

Love her attitude

I get the feeling that the Mo announcement indicates that management is leaning towards keeping Slot.

I would think moving him on now is something they would be willing to do even if they have a new coach lined up. Mo’s performances have declined and he is on very big wages. Mo also wants to continue playing every match he can.

Rumours last week that Gakpo could be available in the summer and now Mo leaving.

Also it’s been brought up a number of times this season that Slot has not been able to play the way he wants because both of those don’t play like his usual typical wingers hence we’re moving both on and giving him some wingers who can.

Probably way off but you never know.

Then the decisions to extend and give them both a raise are making less sense now. Gakpo’s previous contract still had 2 years, and Salah just mutually terminated. The two inside forwards are also not the only problems with how we play now.

I remember that Bayern made offer for Gakpo and Diaz, and we chose to sell Diaz (because he wanted too much was the reason being said back then), then extended Gakpo. And he plus Salah played every match until December. Now they say Gakpo is not in Slot’s plan?
