Arne Slot - Head Coach

You think he’d say that about Gomez in public on live TV even if he was lying?

This is what bugs me most. Even with Rio and Mo on the pitch that didn’t really change either.

We had nothing that really stretched them.

Honestly, I’ll have to go away and think why that is exactly looking at our tactics, personnel etc. Thing is I don’t really have the energy or will to do that.

I don’t know, but I dont believe that Gomez would have asked to come off.

Slot said what Joe told him, it’s normal bench-pitch communication. Especially as he was close to the bench in that second half. Doesn’t mean Gomez asked Slot to take him off, but told him what he feels.

I really hope Joe has told Arne that he felt something, because if he didn’t it’s a really, really bizarre sub

Obviously I don’t know with any modicum of certainty…
But I really doubt that Joe, having a good match would communicate that he felt anything.

I doubt even more that Slot would invent these things in public, if Gomez hasn’t said it. It can be simple prevention for the good of the individual (and his future, that might again be in question this summer) and the team in the coming weeks.

Ok
Neither of us have any form of proof anyway

if he did feel something then its further proof that Joe shouldve been moved on ages ago.
He cant even manage 21 minutes.

Obviously his fitness isn’t up to him playing week in, week out - and generally we don’t need him to. He has played games this season and looked good.

Also I don’t think it’s easy to move on a player who is struggling for regular fitness like Joe.

He still got certain interest in last years, being close to moves to Newcastle (permanently) and Milan (on loan) in the last two summer windows. Palace and Villa were also mentioned at different times. So it was possible and might still be.

But this season has been particular challenging fitness wise. This hasn’t been him getting a knock. It’s just him being routinely unable to get through two games a week. Nobody paying money, in wages or a fee, is going to ignore that.

For Joe? Nothing we haven’t seen in the past, he had even worse situations. He’ll be 29 and in the last year of his deal. I’m not sure what will happen, but I don’t think it would be that hard to find a buyer.

He has about 1 year odd left in his contract…It’s now or never to cash in…

We will be lucky to get 10m out of Gomez…

It’s one aspect, but not the only important one. We’ll see if he’s still here or not.

Pretty sure other players have lasted less than this. Some don’t even make kick off.

The determining factor is and should be frequency of injuries.

Wow… we are cursed in terms of injuries this season, aren’t we? :grimacing:
Slot seems unable to resolve a number of ongoing problems, but he hasn’t been spoilt with all the freaking injures we’ve had all season. It’s just incredible.

I think Slot is running out of options now attacking wise and I think he has to run Ngumoha.

Isak cannot do 90mins yet. We can maybe get sixty out of him, which means Gakpo is going to have to play through the middle.

I’ve been more understanding than most that we have to be careful with the lad, but there are seven games left and he has barely played all season. Come on Arne, let the kid off the lead.

He should have been sacked in 2025 as a mercy to him, his interviews are embarrassing.

Can’t imagine he’d have much respect or authority if kept on for next season, he’s a bit of a show.
