Arne Slot - Head Coach

Slot: “Look Florian, Bayern already have Musiala and that runty little fella as creative midfielders, come here instead”

Flo: “Ok boss, you’ve convinced me”

Or Carrick

The dream. I hope they appoint him. It’ll be Ole all over again.

Surely its more about who comes in. If Xabi wants it and FSG agree then its whether he’s willing to start now or wants to wait until summer. If we’ve identified our preferred coach and they’re ready to start now, then Arne is out the door immediately surely?

FFS…I hope it changes in the summer!

Yeah, fair enough. Availability of the incoming is a huge part of it. I was just looking at the Slot side of it. If Alonso is available to come for the last few games of the season, that changes the calculus. But I suspect he wants to wait until summer, to have a whole season, based on his comments about going to Real Madrid for the CWC before having worked with the players.

It;s going to be an interesting ride as we see what happens. In the meantime, a win at Everton will be just the ticket.

What do they want? A player revolt? A fan protest? Another $400m full of excuses?

Probably they’ll go for the trifecta!

Start by selling the head coach!

No world-class coach (like Ancelotti or Klopp) will agree to give away his say over transfer decisions.

Thought I would put this here in regards to De Zerbi, the whole idea compared to Arne is that people see a plan/way of playing and set patterns of play.

It’s possible that the owners are just playing the public game before pulling the trigger in the summer. We can all point to supportive messages about managers shortly before the axe falls.

But it’s also entirely possible that FSG intend to do exactly what has been reported now on a couple of occasions. That they will be sticking with Arne Slot.

My concern is that lots of fans are now so all in on sacking him, they have convinced themselves it’s an inevitability, and are just waiting for it to happen. I don’t think it’s an inevitability. I think it’s possible. I might be persuaded that it’s likely. But we might need to get used to the idea that Arne Slot is the Liverpool manager next year.

Disclaimer: I would replace him it if were up to me.

I’ve thought he was staying ever since Mo announced he was leaving.

Boot out Van Bronkhorst, bring back Heitinga

I’m pretty sure Slot had his say on last summer’s events and wasn’t ignored. Maybe it wasn’t all done as he wanted, but that’s just natural in football, we can’t get everything we want.

Then of course, different people may carry different weight in dynamics between all those decision makers.

It can even depend from transfer to transfer, like Klopp giving credit to people in the background for pushing Salah’s case.

If FSG is keeping Slot for another year, I will probably watch live matches a lot less. I will also vote with my wallet and stop buying authentic kits and hoodies as I have in the past.

I heard some rumours through the fan channels and IDKs that when Heitinga was sacked by Ajax Slot wanted him back, but the people above him blocked it on the grounds that he had an assistant and didn’t need another one.

Ancelotti was manager at Real Madrid… not sure the managers have a massive say over who they buy?

For me it depends how it goes, and I’m willing to take a breath, treat the summer as a reset and go into the new season with an open mind.

In previous years I’ve actively found ways to get out of family stuff to watch Liverpool. As this season has gone on I’ve just been less arsed to have the ‘but I want to watch the game’ argument, and just sack off the game if necessary.

So I suppose if next season falls into the pattern this one has, I’ll just gradually drift away rather make any big gesture.

History would suggest no one really rights this kind of form, so I wouldn’t expect anything and I’m probably like Canuck I probably wouldn’t buy anything from the club. Certainly wouldn’t bother looking to go to any games.
