Arne Slot - Head Coach

AS shakes his hand at 3:00min mark… might have said something also - Oliver reacts

The obsession to persist with Diaz as the 9 despite offering nothing time and time again is really beginning to grate on my nutsacks, the red card I couldn’t give 2 skits about.

Injuries under Klopp.

Suspensions under Slot.

:joy:

Are Wolves Heitinga’s first real test?

If he was anyway going to get suspended, I’d rather it been for punching that corrupt piece of shit.

Bad form Arne.

James Pearce says the initial statement from the PL has been taken down without comment. Ordinarily it would take 2-3 days to review the ref’s match report and make a disciplinary decision based on it. So seems someone jumped the gun with that announcement, which will not ease concerns of the decision being baked in.

That’ll teach him to call the integrity of refereeing into question in his pre-match press conferences!

Slot hasn’t made many mistakes but I thought he did with how he approached the derby.

Everton are not a good side. The only thing they have going for them in this fixture is emotion. And everything around that match was emotional for Everton. It was so obvious watching it on television. It certainly had to be in the stadium.

I think what we should have done in the first 15-20 minutes is just bore the hell of everyone. Take everything away. Take the ball and knock it around at the back. Big Virg passing the ball to Konate to Ali back to Big Virg back to Konate back to Ali back to Big Virg back to, well you get the idea. That sort of thing.

Klopp understood this. Klopp is the most emotional LFC manager of my lifetime and he tried to take the emotion out of this fixture.

Oliver was just awful but we didn’t play very well either.

I did think that Everton played better than us for large sections of the game.

Albeit aided by the referee who was all too happy to give a foul even for no contact. The crowd who were baying for fouls from the get go.

We just didn’t get into the match.

Yes, I thought that was a sneaky comment in the presser. Oliver rewarded him by giving free kicks for non-fouls.

Don’t mind Arne mentioning the standard of refereeing there.

He did grab the arm…but not violently…but Oliver had already decided to red card him coz u see his arm go straight to his back pocket…he never even thought to give a yellow, I have seen worse contact between ref n manager…he was intent on sending any LFC personnel off…

I keep saying this, but everyone’s hindsight tactical plans are somewhat reliant on a referee treating both teams the same.

I saw someone saying that we weren’t strong enough in challenging 50/50s. Oliver was giving free kicks when they got kicked by fresh air, so I’m not sure how we do that.

As for taking the sting out of the game, I agree - but again that is hard if the referee is not blowing for fouls and Everton feel emboldened to kick the shit out of our players.

It’s up to the club if we want to make a thing of it. Slot needs to regroup and get the team focused on winning the title, starting with three points against Wolves.

The wider issue is to do with whether we want to take on uneven officiating, and taking it all the way to calling for the disbanding of the PGMOL, and a new, better thing, to form in its place. It is possible to do this last part winsomely, with other clubs getting behind it too. There are substantive issues to do with a lack of accountability, as well as it being a closed shop. There is no culture of improvement and development. Their approach is to just circle the wagons, and as such, they continually set up them v us situations, and the game suffers as a result. The game deserves better than the PGMOL.

Whether or not we take that on remains to be seen, but it would be a worthy fight.

I have to admit, until last night I hadn’t really noticed the state of referees very much this season. I think we’d done pretty well to keep our heads down and not get embroiled in referee nonsense, and of course it’s a lot easier to brush off the referees when you are doing brilliantly.

I’ve long been of the opinion that PGMOL is not fit for purpose. It’s organisational character is arrogant, unaccountable, unapproachable and aloof. There is no sense of striving towards a best standard or continual improvement. Failure is rewarded and the whole thing reeks of a boys club.

Why it’s almost as if the thing is run by an ex South Yorkshire copper.

What other clubs?
I can see Wolves who perhaps have a harder time than us, who else?
Don’t they, the refs, just keep feeding the narrative the journalistes and ‘game’ want?
Nasty Wolves must be kept in their place, Liverpool must prove they are much better than anyone else by playing against the odds or get knocked off thier perch. Or something like that.

Apparently Slot isn’t much of a swearer and the video doesn’t really match the overly firm handshake allegation either. So I’m putting my money on extreme sarcasm.

There absolutely is. They are just working to different end points than we as fans are.

Apparently the PGMOL were too quick off the mark stating there is a two match ban imposed… beginning at the weekend - They have now said, no decision has been taken as they need to study the match report… which can take up to 3days before they receive it…
AS is awaiting the charge he is being accused of…!
Raises questions as to why he has been proven guilty before the evidence has been laid out, or even refuted…!
The PGMOL are not fit for purpose. simple as.
