So
The club and Slot agreed terms and both sides were contened with the deal.
Slot over performs? In his first season.
Obviously the terms will be revised based upon success.
The club has done smart business and will continue to do so.
As you said @RER
A futile attempt at unsettling tactics. Is that the best they can do?
I think also it needs mentioning, whether it was Edwards or Hughes that took the decision to relieve the head coach/manager of other distracting duties, seems to have paid off ten fold this season with our points and performance returns on the pitch. Well done to whoever it was anyway.
The newer lot are more happy working with a sporting director. Sure, they’ll have their transfer targets but it’s better for the managers to not be judged by the transfers they’ve made.
Klopp was at his best when he was working for Edwards. Sure he did do well in his last three seasons as well but when he had the power , he stuck with people whose best days were done.
Partly because his first midfield rebuild didn’t work out the way he planned it. Guys like Thiago , Oxlade and Keita were supposed to take over from Milner and Henderson. They didn’t do that. Fabinho suddenly turning to shit didn’t help matters too.
What on earth are you on about? Thiago, Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Keïta were all signed when Edwards was with us. Jürgen has always worked with a DOF at Liverpool.
Didn’t Klopp have a say in those transfers ? Why did Edwards leave Liverpool in the first place ? The rumours of him having fallen out with Klopp. Can it be safe to say that Edwards had a falling out with Klopp ?
And post Edwards , Klopp wanted Nunez. He wanted Minamino. He got his wishlist more times as well. He was overruled too.
With the situation now , Slot is purely a head coach with not that much power in his transfer targets. Sure there’s input on the profile of the player he wants , but he exactly isn’t getting the guy he wants
No, given the interviews given by everyone involved. How many times does it need to be made clear, that:
Edwards left Liverpool and did not join any other club but set up his own consultancy, because he wanted to do something different.
Edwards did not rejoin Liverpool. It has been made amply clear that he would not have rejoined Liverpool, because he does not wish to be a Director of Football.
Minamino was signed under Edwards. Both Núñez and Minamino were outputs from our player recruitment process. The former was not favoured by the recruitment team because it meant a change in playing style, which Jürgen wanted to do.
This makes absolutely no sense, just like most of what you normally post anyway.
Neither did Jürgen. There is no reason to believe that the job scope has changed between Jürgen and Arne apart from a re-titling of the position.
I wish I hadn’t given it the clickbait. As even Arne would say nothing is won yet and no doubt any distraction wouldn’t be welcomed anyhow.
If he wants to stay and we do end up winning the title I assume he will receive a better contract in the summer. Saying that he will probably have very good bonuses due regardless if he wins it.
Looks like it comes from that Anfield Watch website. It’s probably even AI generated as the style of writing is identical to numerous other non-Liverpool websites that just churn out garbage daily.
Well of course - it’s been posted to X and the poster has a blue tick so it must be true. I’m guessing Arne must have contracted a bit of a cold though.
I thought Klopp was very good at press conferences but Slot takes it to another level, every question is answered in detail and in a very sensible manner with a joke or two thrown in.
And you , ofcourse you do make sense. Apart from being the captain obvious. Your penchant for offering nothing new to the convo is idiotic. Keep trolling and showing yourself off as an entitled self important jackass.
The fall out between Edwards and Klopp has been well publicised. Yeah , Edwards didn’t want to be a DOF anymore after that. Sure What’s your point ?
I was wondering if our players had an advantage over Arsenal in this title run because we have been in this position many times before. At some level I feel this might be the case. Especially as we still have players like Virgil, Trent, Salah, Robbo, Alisson who have all been there and seen it all.
But it doesnt change the fact that for lot of players this kind of title challenge is new. Dom, McAllister, Gravenberg, Diaz to name a few. And Slot as well.
Either the mentality monsters attitude is so engrained now in our club DNA or we have got the players and manager who have that attitude which is a continuation of what Klopp left. The end result looks so sweet in either case.
It looked an impossible task to fill Klopp’s shoes. Slot has made it look so easy and thankful to all our players who are playing an equal part in this.
Just imagine what Slot could have done with having a fit Thiago as an option.
BTW I thought a lot of Thaigos injuries came from overuse as when he was fit he had to be played every minute as we had Keita and Ox who were even less available
Yes. I meant not winning after being in it can lead to loss of collective heads at crucial moments. Arsenal being the example… they have the same players challenging for 3 seasons now. But we have bounced back after the blips.
But the same was the same of us in 2019-20. I see your point, but I think it’s more that I believe that this squad has had that experience and therefore ability to learn from it and keep pushing.
