Arne Slot - Head Coach

Credit to whoever has managed the squad that side. Oddly I don’t think much of the medical team changed.

Of course if you run players into the ground you get what you see at Arsenal

Good old 21st century logic, “It was more than likely than not” that Slot swore at Oliver

What channel is the match on, Sky or TNT, i have a firestick in the telly?

Do you mean the PSG match? That’s on TNT this week and Amazon Prime next week.

I have just realised it after spending 20 minutes looking for it tonight on the telly. :sob::woman_facepalming:t4:I saw Real Madrid v Athletico and Aston Villa v Brugge but no Reds!

Yet @cynicaloldgit gets it fine???

Not always.

Nobody’s right all the time.

Not even Arne (he says, desperately trying to drag this thread back on track).

But you are, most of time.
Just like Arne (also desperately trying to drag this thread back on track). :slightly_smiling_face:

Good luck with that.

Arne has been a revelation, but it won’t look as good if we fuck up against the Paris oil dogs.

33 days and 9 games since Plymouth. Slot treated them all like finals with little rotation.

We won the first 7 CL games and were able to rotate in the 8th. Avoided the two extra play off matches and crashed out early in the FA Cup.

Still ran out of steam.

Easy to say now but the only chance to beat PSG and Newcastle was probably to rest more players by starting Endo and Elliott vs Southampton. You could actually throw in Chiesa and Quansah too.

We have the ambition to win the FA Cup too. We might have to play the CL playoffs next year in February.

Football today requires bigger squad but also a head coach who trusts more than 16 players to start the important games.

Slot will have to learn this…

Well, last summer the narrative was to give Slot a season to address the squad. Hopefully they now act accordingly and don’t resort to the “Well we’ve won the league, who says we need a new X or Y?”

Thing is we will soon find out if rest does energise us considering our schedule.

…another reason why AS might stick with a small core of players; and not sure if it has been mentioned yet: is that he may not want to compromise his own footballing principles…!
Sounds outlandish I know… but if he doesn’t like a player he has in the squad for whatever reason, he could be reluctant to play him… If he has to change to unfavourable tactics to suit certain players, again, he could be reluctant to play him… If someone not applying 100% effort in training… reluctant to play him… If a players attitude is not 100% attuned to his own… reluctant to play him… and the list could go on and on… as yet, none of us really know, how high (or low), AS sets his footballing standards for others to follow.

AS has inherited almost every player in that squad… it seems he has settled on a small number that can carry out his instructions, and play as close to the way he wants to play… Still remains to be seen, how far off these players are performing, if and when, two or three seasons down the line, we can compare them with the visionary team AS will have assembled.

Agree and would add that, in conjunction with @GermanRed’s point above, this would mean Arne will want quite a few signings so that he has a bigger pool of players he can trust next season.

…yes, maybe not all will arrive next season… but they could arrive piecemeal, over the next two or three windows…
