Arne Slot - Head Coach

Yes, but he keeps playing Darwin and Arne mentioned his attitude in a game and also, form me he doesn’t suit our style.

So it debunks that IMO

I don’t know if it’s a matter of trust. Slot, for instance, has lauded Endo on a number of occasions. He was lamenting his own decision not to start Elliott against Southampton. And he must be regretting not playing Chiesa more after seeing him do more in 20 minutes than the entire forward line did in 90.

I have the impression that in this regard he’s still operating as if he’s still in the Netherlands, where rotation wasn’t necessary. He’s going to have to get over himself. He has to adapt.

This is the key point.

Let’s see what he does next season, with a year’s experience of the Premier League under his belt and, hopefully, a squad more aligned with his own ideas at his disposal.

Yes, I can see the point you are making, but it could also confirm AS just does not have the numbers in that squad of personnel, that tick ALL the boxes in his preferred checklist. In short, if he plucked 5 or 6 players from that squad for his ideal team, then there is bound to be players, while not ideal to his footballing philosophy, he still has to put a team of players onto the park each game.
It will certainly be interesting to see who he lets go in the next 12months…

Great post

I do agree that some players dont suit his style and some are struggling to actually play to that style ergo against Newcastle, we were scared to try to play through them

Ultimately, Slot’s ability to learn from mistakes, adapt and evolve is going to determine whether or not he makes it long-term at Liverpool. That’s one of the traits that separate the elite from the merely good.

So the entire “first eleven” (excluding Trent, but including his current replacement) is on international duty.

What could possibly go wrong?

To be fair most other clubs will as well. If they get through the good thing is most are done by Sunday which is almost 10 days break.

I think people forget it’s Slots first year in this league and with all these games. He has done fantastically and if we win the league I am not sure people will realise what an amazing achievement that is.

But - his is also learning. Learning about the amount of games, the demands, how other teams will combat him, how we work to buy players etc.

I think he can only get better and wiser.

I think winning the league by such a margin downplays what he has achieved. Sure City falling off helps, but this is what a normal league champion looked like before a cheating City skewed what it took to win the league.

The Premier League season was shortened to 38 games in 1995-96.

Since then, Manchester United, the most successful side in the division, have won eleven titles, at an average of 84.06 points. Manchester City’s eight titles have come at an average of 91.5 points per season, so an increase of over 7 points.

The average points total for the champions from 1995-96 to 2023-24 is 88.07.

We are currently on pace for 91.7 points this season.

Robbed Klopp of a dynasty. That Liverpool team from 2018 - 2020 should have been remembered as the most dominant side in the PL era.

I fully expect the investigation to take City’s titles away………NOT.

Money talks.
