They should just forfeit…

Oh here we go…might have players…might not…how deep is this squad…if you have 13 registered players…you play…if not let us know and give up the game…geezzz it’s not that hard.

Not sure we were so keen on that outcome when we were seeking a postponement, were we?

Yes, but we didn’t send out 2 players on loan right before that, nor did we have only a single COVID case.

Could not care less if it is PP, at one point we play the match and we will beat them.

If it is postponed indeed, it can realistically only be played during the winter break. The only other potentially possible slot is midweek just before the cup final (which seems a little late, doesn’t it?). Well, at least Brazil did not call up Bobby this time around.

Though I believe the game will be played on Thursday with the Gooners able to field enough healthy players then.

Glad to see this thread is properly titled after the debacle in the last leg

Pretty sure they’ll be looking for a postponement which is fucking laughable after their fans whinging from the first leg and the fact that they only have a couple of covid absences and are just exploiting the rule to wait for their players to be fit.

That said if the game is postponed and there is no appropriate date for a replay they forfeit the match because the responsibility is now on them not us to find a suitable date. Would be hilarious if that happened.

Well then we will probably be close to only 13 players, if it is true about our situation then 40 staff and players were considered at risk or in isolation and the local health board shut down Melwood.

Arsenal played most of their youth team up to the semi finals, it’s a bit different to our situation as explained above, the FL probably won’t accept it. Plus this is the FL not the PL.

If the match really is postponed to Tuesday, January 25, I hope we can reach some agreement with Brazil on realeasing Fabinho two days later to international duty. He is in any case suspended for the first of two Brazil games this window. Because Minamino departs for Japan as well, we could then only hope for Ox and Origi to be back (or at the very least one of them).

Though it would really be bizarre if the match is postponed with them only having one Covid case and letting their players away on loan.

Arsenal team news by WhoScored (questionable when this was made, today or maybe last night, hopefully the positives report about the game being played are true):

  • This game is under threat after Arsenal couldn’t field a team against Tottenham on Sunday.
  • Martin Odegaard may return from COVID-19 in time for Thursday but their concern would suggest Cedric Soares, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Emile Smith Rowe are all unavailable.
  • Bukayo Saka came off with a stomach problem in the first leg and Arteta will hope to have him available here.
  • Granit Xhaka is also suspended after his straight red card in the 0-0 draw at Anfield last week.
  • Arsenal have loaned out Pablo Mari, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Folarin Balogun this month to reduce their playing squad further.
  • Should this game go ahead then Mikel Arteta may have to use Ben White in central midfield with Thomas Partey and Mohamed Elneny away at AFCON.

Still baffled by those loan deals fair enough at the end of January but he knew they would be short and he knew the risks of Covid.

Putting on my Arsenal fan hat for a moment…

Obviously Arsenal want to game the system so bad to avoid playing an in-form Liverpool! We just smashed Brentford 3-0 they must be quaking in their boots at the thought of playing us!

It would be delicious to see them request a postponement and us refuse to play during the international break leaving them to play the kids or forfeit the game.

Just seen they released kolasinac too so their already stretched squad is down yet another body that would be eligible for their squad. Would serve them right if the PL and EFL refused to entertain any more postponement requests citing stupidity and failure to retain a suitable squad.

Can’t wait for this game.

Away difficulty, 1 game to the final, let’s do this. That Brentford win was a feel good factor after a short while I felt. We needed a bit of that, especially in front of our crowd.

Two wins away from our 49th major trophy. :crossed_fingers:t4:
