How’s your Arsenal supporting brother? Please convey my regards and laughter.
I know it’s used as a joke phrase, but the game really has gone. Even the most obvious, inarguable foul/penalty results in narrative defining outrage from the respective set of fans, and it’s all egged on by the managers (see Ange earlier today as well as Mikel after this game).
You even have two nobody ex-footballers on Talk Sport Cundy and O’Hara saying its no penalty what they watching.
“Talksport”
No explanation needed but that
It’s a shame that Tottenham and Villa aren’t in better form, otherwise they would have been able to capitalise on injuries that have sidelined Saka and White. I’ll take any points they, Chelsea and City drop, especially given Liverpool’s fixture list.
I was annoyed for the most of the Brighton match by the fact that Arsenal were playing with a midfield and front three you’d expect to see in League Cup semifinal or FA Cup quarterfinal at best - yet they comfortably kept Brighton at bay for vast majority of the game. If it hadn’t been for the penalty, Brighton wouldn’t have scored against them if the match was played until tomorrow.
That way of playing probably isn’t sustainable for Atletico London but their set-piece prowess means that they are likely to win a lot of points playing like that.
He’s got the Galactico swagger…oh wait its just a limp.
Cunty and O Hara always come out with garbage.
Like their careers.
They were never going to win both games away from home this week.
A not so wise man once told Arteta to ‘stay humble eh’ but after winning a few games again Arteta started to talk about Liverpool (‘no team has ever won every game’).
Makes today even sweeter.
I never used to mind Arsenal till Arteta arrived and after years in the wilderness suddenly became semi relevant again. The fan base became insufferable sense of entitlement.
Out of the title race and desperate to deliver a trophy.
First leg of the League Cup semi final vs Newcastle on Tuesday.
This being at home means Arteta will have to field a very strong team and go for the win. Newcastle going to love that.
Say it quietly, but Newcastle are in blistering form at the minute. Howe has them putting along, they have plenty of shithousery and quality in good measure. Reckon they finish top 4/5 and likely win a cup (if we happen to fuck one of the cups off in favor of the PL/CL challenge ahead)
I liked what Brighton did in defending corners. They had at least two players closer to midfield, causing Arsenal to keep players back, and not cram the box like they had been. Arse we’re never really close to scoring, and defenders in the box had more room to move about.
Nwaneri’s evening ended prematurely as he was forced off due to what Arteta later described as a muscular issue. Speaking to BBC’s Match of the Day, Arteta said: “It’s really bad news because I think we’ve lost him. We had to take him off at half-time with some muscular problems.”
It doesn’t make sense tactically. Why not spend an hour trying to get a second goal rather than risking a last minute panic if opposition equalise. It’s just fear really. We’re lucky to have a squad that Klopp built to be fearless (most of the time)
To be fair Arteta whined earlier that they have to play every 3 days. He would therefore suggest that’s the reason for their having received more cards for time wasting.
They had the longest break at Crimbo played on the 21st December then again on the 27th then not again till 1st.
I think we were the only team to have less of 3 day break over Xmas.
I’m loving the fuming and the whining. It was a penalty. It was not an innocuous clash of heads. Saliba went to head the ball, missed it by a margin, then smashed his head into the side of Pedro’s head, very hard. Was there a decent cut too? I saw Pedro wearing some sort of patch on the side of his head that looked like my lad’s omnipod - it’s an automatic insulin capsule he wears on his stomach for his diabetes type 1.
Anyway, wah wah wah. 700 million. Five years. One FA Cup.
Unless he wins the Prem soon, it won’t be too long before more of the Arsenal natives are getting restless. The CL would buy him more time, but he looks like a man who knows he is not delivering at the highest level, as anticipated. Tick-tock.
