Per Romano, feels like this one is on the verge of completion already, but starting a thread as figured people might want to comment on this in a specific place.
For me it’s a good price for a player Slot clearly doesn’t really rate, and seeing the kind of impact someone like Rio has had already, it’s starting to feel a bit like Doak hasn’t really looked like living up to his early promise in a red shirt. Plus it’s a big chunk of profit to put towards other signings Slot will actually utilise.
It’s disappointing as at one stage I had high hopes for the lad. But we move on. Hope he does better on the south coast than Ibe did.
And once again, who broke it first?
Does his fee count as pure profit under PSR? Also, I second @Waldaz: did indykaila really break these news?!
To quote the famous lyric, it’s the end of the world as we know it!
Indy has been knighted by Ornstein. There have been rumors for a while that this account was taken over by a reputable incognito group who run it for fun with a humorous twist.
Would be funny if they rushed it through so he could play for them tonight
£25m is outstanding business. I know Doak is talented and probably more so than the likes of Ryan Kent and Jordan Ibe, but even so that’s a great fee for a lad that hasn’t yet shown it at the top level.
Already too late
Need to do it by some time. Assume that was lunch.
I think he is a good player but has looked better in say international games than he ever has for us. Probably one of those who needs regular time. That’s not going happen at Liverpool.
11pm last night
They’ve got a good record of developing kids and it seems his ceiling is a bit lower than we’d hoped. Good move for all involved. Wish him well
3rd youngster not quite good enough we have flogged them we are now Bournemouth feeder club.
me?
Ah yeah it used to be midday the day before.
It’s still an 8 figure transfer coming with an expectation of being able to establish himself as a premier league player. This really is within the very tail of the bell curve of outcomes for players in our academy, even the relatively well developed ones we sign to put in our reserves like Doak. The gap between being a legit PL player and a kid with a couple of sub appearances in the Scottish league is enormous and he has bridged that in his time here despite a succession of injury issues. It is a raging success for all parties and I think the only disappointment of what could have been is based on hopes that were maybe not ever realistic.
