I’m quite clearly no fan of the man-baby, but I think the point being made was that as a foreign-born person, having an outsized influence could be overstepping his bounds.

At some point people decided that throwing money at young socially incompetent white men was a good idea, while simultaneously discounting the ability of anyone from any other demographic to start successful businesses.

Sam Altman is another one. A track record of not just incompetence, but self-interested decision making that hurts the companies he is associated with. But people in King Maker positions see something they like in him and back him to the hilt through failure after failure, all the while he is accumulating power and influence despite never doing anything that isnt a flaming shit heap.
Everyone, including the king makers do not understand the survivorship bias of their personal path to success and overtime develop a completely broken perception of what it takes to be successful. They create this image in their head of who they were and why that led to their, in their mind, inevitable success and go and find people who present like that. It is far more a case of stroking their own ego than identifying people based on actual business success that influence this. But there is so much money floating around in this VC world, with the payoffs structured in a heads I win and tails you lose sort of way that they cannot lose. They just keep making the wrong bets, promoting the wrong people and acquiring more and more money and influence in the process while the rest of us subjected to these bad business get the shaft.
