Once again, I completely fail to understand how people can buy a Tesla. They are ugly as fuck, expensive, unpractical and as proven once again here, outright dangerous. And yet, people seem to fall in for them.
It’s a bit in the same category of me wondering why so many people voted for Trump, against their own best interests…

Thing that gets me is look at the lamp post and look at the super duper US Commando, navy seal, WWE, rock hard Tesla truck.
Well, you can see why it would run into trouble with the NCAP tests, because the body has lost structure and the doors have completely distorted.
I did hear some reports that Tesla tweak their software for the NCAP tests. I’m wondering whether the crash avoidance systems are disabled when it is running in self-driving mode?

Absolutely no idea.
I understand crumple zones etc. on cars and how it disperses some pretty massive impact loads but I’m a bit surprised that the damage to the column is not that severe.

Yes, I see what you mean.You would at least have expected it to be knocked over if not bent.
They can be quite whippy when hit in my experience (stray lorry wheel hit one near where I was working on the M4, bit scary that one) but they will buckle.
That one is just dented and maybe leaning a bit.
