Blud, it's the Arsenal shithouse FC thread, fam

Would they still be in the so-called Big Six?

Imagine the big 5 plus arsenal in the championship :flushed::grimacing::eyes:

Don’t think they will get relegated. They’ll change to a half decent manager if Arteta gets poor results in the next 10 games. That half decent manager along with the new manager rebound will get them comfortably midtable.

Wow. I knew they’d been making redundancies in non-playing staff and the scouting team got thinned out quite significantly but didn’t realise they were borrowing the cash to keep investing in the team.

It’s mad because they have the basis of a decent enough squad but the players they are buying don’t appear to be that much better than the ones they have or the ones they’re letting go. They’ve also got a lot of really promising young players coming through but they seem to prefer sending them on loan, selling them or not picking them despite the more established names not getting the job done.

All that money invested and they’ve put a rookie manager in charge to replace Emery who was doing an okay job but really should have been afforded more time.

I think Emery had to go. But generally, you’d look for someone who’s an upgrade over Emery and not looked at a Rookie in that position. Arteta might have been a good #2 under Guardiola but that’s like saying Pepjin is a good #2 under Jurgen. Good #2’s don’t necessarily become good managers.

Arteta seems to be overawed by the scale of the job. He might be more tactically aware than someone like Frank Lampard but he doesn’t seem to be in a position to play his “philosophy” of football if indeed he has one. Atleast Lampard tried (with all his limitations) to play his brand of football. Ole too for that matter. He’s always stuck on to try and play his brand of football even if he’s tactically naive.

Lesser clubs like Brighton, Southampton etc are making efforts in investing in young managers who are committed to a particular style of play. Arsenal with Arteta and all their spending don’t seem to be doing that.

Must be remembered though…
Whoever is brought in will need to deal with that toxic crowd they have…
It might be the crowd that is actually the cause of them becoming relegation fodder

They can get someone like Conte and be back in contention immediately. Fans are fickle , they’ll get behind the manager when there are results coming.

Off topic, but I look forward to the Bitters singing Rafa songs if he’s a success.

Arsenal might be the only side who’s spent 80m on two positions that aren’t immediate priorities and still got worse w.r.t their starting XI

They had signed Saliba for 30m a while back and don’t seem to want him now. Ben White probably is a downgrade on him considering his aerial weaknesses and the inability to play in a 2 man CB formation.

Now they sign Ramsdale when they have Leno. How is Ramsdale an upgrade on Leno ?

Arsenal are screaming out for an Ancelloti / hiddink sort of character.

Rafa would have been good there.

If this goes on though , Liverpool can put in a cheeky bid for Martinelli , Emile Smith Rowe & Saka. They have some good youngsters and Liverpool should be in a good position to poach them.

Big Sam is the man for the job - would love to see it.

The shambles that Sheffield were last season , Any goalie would have had better than expected stats there. It’s like us going for Mignolet based on his performances for Sunderland.

Which one is worse - the season they signed Park Chu Young, Andre Santos, Per Mertesacker, Mikel Arteta and Benayoun after freaking out towards the end of transfer window or them freaking out now and buying recklessly?

They are like us about a decade ago, but worse. The only players they can get are shite, and they are getting absolutely rinsed for those.

Wenger out, eh lads. There should be a fair few Gunners feeling very sheepish.

They still got 3 good footballers there (Yossi included). So this one by default is worse.
