I find the comment by the bbc official that “what if Gary was posting something pro-Israel” to be the fundamental issue.

Gary wouldn’t. Nobody with eyes, ears, and a human conscience would.

Neutrality when one side is murdering civilians including thousands of babies is basically aiding the murderers.

The BBC have had no problems in employing the likes of Tracy-Ann Oberman who have frequently voiced their support for Israel, as she is perfectly entitled to do in her own time.

There does seem to be a double standard.

I was curious about why he picked out “pro-Leave” as an example of something that people may object to, given that Nigel Farage is never off the bloody TV.

I think he was just picking out two issues which have prompted fairly strong sentiments from either side.

Leave/Remain positions isn’t a problem for the BBC, most prominent ones are pro-Remain (HIGNFY for example and previously Mock The Week).

You can see the strong grip the Zionist lobby has on the BBC.

I have a suspicion that Gary Lineker grinds the gears of some right wing commentators because his non-sporting activities are very successful. I just checked out the top 20 podcasts for the UK and 6 of them are produced by Lineker’s production company. That is a huge reach and all done without making crass comments about minorities.

The odd thing is, I don’t think he has ever used his television appearances to promote them. In fact many people are surprised to discover that he is involved in them at all.

I don’t think the person quoted was saying there was - it was more a comment around the views of those who might be supportive of Lineker’s comments and whether they would be equally supportive of him if he had expressed the opposite opinion (i.e questioning whether it is really a defence on free speech grounds or one of simple ‘political’ alignment).

Sure, but it’s surely an empty statement when pro sides of both of those arguments have been given such a platform on the BBC specifically to share those views.

Could it be institutional jealousy? I don’t think they are BBC owned podcasts are they - and I’ve noticed over the last week a couple of articles where BBC is talking about cutting certain services because of lack of funds to continue with them?

The Beeb needs to be purged of all the RWers and Zionists clearly harboured in its exec/admin

I doubt it’s jealousy as such. There has been a great deal of criticism of the BBC Board and Tim Davie in particular (who was essentially a Boris Johnson appointment) over their coverage of Gaza. I know that my former MP, John Nicolson, raised it in parliament.

Yeah, THAT’s the problem there, the news coverage.

Not our direct and indirect aiding and abetting of a murder spree.

While I see your point, I also note that without the appropriate coverage, there will not be a shift in public opinion. Without a shift in public opinion, do you see Starmer doing anything?

Confirmed now:

I liked him as a pundit. In football terms, the BBC is now poorer without him, but that’s their problem.

This news about energy bills prices is rather funny and spot on at the same time.
