Breaking News Thread

I got through NKnews on my cellphone whilst my laptop encountered the paywall.
This might work.

It did !

Poor bastards:
Officials from the Munitions Industry Department, Kim Chaek University of Technology, the State Academy of Sciences, and the Chongjin Shipyard were specifically named as culprits in the statement, which said they would be “dealt with” at the June plenary meeting of the Workers’ Party of Korea Central Committee.

Execution by AA gun?
Something like this, on a bigger scale.

One can only speculate.

Well done, Kim! :+1:

Besides, I’d wish for every newly launched warship (or military plane, or whatever) to suffer the same fate.

“out of bounds of possibility”

The language of a dictator. Wait for the orange ogre to try this

An Israeli diplomat and his young American fiance was shot dead in a terror attack in the United States by 30 year old Elias Rodriguez, from Chicago. He chanted “Free, Free Palestine” as he shot them.

This is very serious and is highly likely to cause the opposite of what the terrorist wanted.

Not exactly top of my list of sympathetic people.

It is still a terrorist attack which must be condemned and the shooter is not at even a citizen in a country at war with Israel, so there can be no excuse.
And even if you don’t have sympathy, the damage to the Palestinian cause will be grave (in particular because this is being cheered by many pro Palestinians on social media) in the US in a time where even pro Israeli politicians in the US are starting to feel pressure, a few of them changing old opinions.

Targeting of specific war criminals, people guilty of High Treason and so on, by intelligence services; that is entirely different. This is pure terrorism and the targets were absolutely not war criminals. It is not ok to just kill sympathisers, ever.
But you are not required to have sympathy, I mean, I won’t cry either. But it is murder of people who should not be murdered,
Just please recognice the damage.

Just to specify how little this guy cared about his targeting and how vile the terror attack actually is:

And when it comes the the Middle East and certainly Israel, Haaretz is the most credible source that exists.

It actually has all the markings for a conspiracy theory. I’m sure someone will claim that this is a false flag operation.

You reap what you sow.

Indiscriminate killing is just that.

How does terrorism compare to genocide.

It’s a horrible situation with horrible people involved. They are all nutters none of which can be reasoned with.

Of course this will be used to kill even more Palestinians. It shouldn’t be!

I have seen many such comments, including by some Norwegians.

People can be surprisingly predictable.

I wasn’t comparing. I would not compare an individual shooting someone with a cataglogue of war crimes.

But the thought tangent is dangerous. Hamas too, specifically (this guy probably was clueless or did not care who he killed as long as they were Israelis or maybe even just Jews), targeted the Kibbutzim, the peace advocates in Israel on Oct 7, with a specific strategy to destroy this segment of Israeli society and drive Israel further to the right, because Hamas saw this as their political interest. I would not say to Gazans that they reap what Hamas sowed (besides, hen and egg and we can go back to before 1948 if we want to be theoretical) just because Hamas wanted to trigger a war.

Frankly, the cynical part of me thought that it might have been one, given how Israel seems to be losing support all over. It just seems too moronic otherwise.

I guess these days though idiocy is the rule rather than the exception…

It’s a pretty stupid idea though. It’s super easy to find out who this shooter is.
Chigaco based Socialist. There are a lot of angry young people (due to outrageous Israeli war crimes seen on twitter and tv, obviously) who are pro Hamas in the US and have very little understanding of the conflict (or Hamas).
Some of them will be loons, inevitably.

I mean… That level of idiocy?

From the same article.

With that response, can one be blamed for the thought that it might be a false flag operation given how quick Netanyahu was to say “antisemitic”?

I wasn’t pointing a finger at you. I know you weren’t.

However the conclusions of others are from comparing.
The individual who did the shooting probably did.
Those that react to this will.
It’s a vicious spiral.
It’s do sick!
The damage is done when people are ‘prevented’ from protesting or even expressing their disgust.
Nutters who feel cornered will do desperate things.
Israel has done what wishes for a long time now and the only whimper came when starving babies were shown on TV.
And yes I know you know this.
