Yes, if you are westerner not trapped in a selective propaganda bubble, you should know better. If you are a palestinian trapped in Gaza, or an Egyptian who’s society is full of conspiracy theories, you should absolutely not be criticised in the same manner.
Netanyahu would say this whatever happened. You should know this. Besides, according to him, any shooting of any Israeli any where, would be anti semitic.
In any case, this is an anti semitic attack, most likely.
I disagree with this, but I will not say I am sufficiently well-informed either way.
On a tangent, but is there a reason why antisemitic seems to be used to refer to something that’s against specifically the Jewish people and not other people of Semitic descent?
The other cynical part of me is also going to say that I guess the perpetrator simply isn’t white enough, and the victims non-white enough, for him to be a “troubled individual”.
History and the paradigms of the 1900 century is the reason why anti semitic is used when it’s about Jews in particular because they are Jews. I am not interested in such a diversion really. It’s all very available information on wikipedia and other lexicons as well as history books and much research going back several hundred years. The origin is in linguistics (semitic languages) and is based on religion and Anti-Judaism. Later this becomes racial anti semitism etc (often both). But this is so easy for you to read up on tbh. I don’t want to spend long writing about such an unrelated topic in lenght. It’s very available info.
But to be clear, we don’t know if this is an Anti Semitic attack as such, or just anti everything associated with Israel, but it becomes very murky then regardless.
The Irish rap band Kneecap have been charged with a terror offence. I thought this might be related to them suggesting that their audience should murder their MPs, but apparently it’s FLEGS!
A member of Irish language hip-hop group Kneecap has been charged with a terror offence after allegedly displaying a flag in support of proscribed organisation Hezbollah at a London gig
Turns out one of the victims in that terror attack pushed some abominable spin. But it shouldn’t really matter. But I am writing it, noting it, because the post I posted above about food deliveries and etc., probably wasn’t entirely acurate and I am a stickler for facts; so feel i must note this.
Regardless, it was damaging for the Palestinian cause.
What is so exhausting about this is the attack was as clear an anti-israel attack as you could find. The line between Jew and Israeli is very clear in the context of this attack. Yet the response I am seeing here in the US is reflexively calling this an anti-semitic attack. I get that actual anti semites dont stop to ask someone’s opinion on Israel before condemning them, as we see in this attack, and so it can be scary in times like this just being Jewish. But this commitment to drawing no distinction between Jew and Israeli (when it suits) is part of why we’re here.
That alone is enough to raise suspicion of a false flag operation. And the wrong scarf.
And the timing is awfully awfully convenient. Just when some government stances are turning, this happens.
Enough of these have types of things seem to happen when the powers-that-be either need a distraction or to foment public frenzy/manipulate public sympathy.
Innocents are innocents no matter what and I sympathise for that. But the way that Netenyahu jumped all over this is rather telling.
Many things they lied about the October attacks have been exposed but they took the initial public opinion created with lies and used that to maximum effect.
I’m not sure this is really relevant. To me, what I suspect is more along the lines of a thorough investigation finding that the perpetrator had some “friend(s)” who mysteriously cannot be traced, who egged him on/encouraged him down this path. Useful idiots conducting stochastic terrorism with plausible deniability for a sponsor.
