On occasion they are complice in the attack.
Such offenders tend to have special security measures to prevent such attacks.

I always find it interesting that people who oppose vaccines also seem to think that antibiotics should be handed out like sweeties.
My brother-in-law worked on survey into public perception of science, statistics and risk. One of the things he mentioned was about people who refused to fly because of the risk of crashing whereas they would happily drive a car where the risks were very much higher. Seemingly people think they have a much higher chance of surviving a fatal car crash than they do a fatal air crash.

The problem is deeper than that. Governments have also sold off their assets in an effort to raise cash and /or cut costs by slashing staff. The result is they’re pouring huge sums of money into private entities that siphon it off in the form of dividends and the like for it never to be seen again.
They have literally nothing left.

Yes, this surprises me too, how millions will blithely accept the daily risk of racing around in a metal box just a short distance from a tank of combustible fuel, surrounded by so many others doing exactly the same thing, some of whom may not even be paying full attention.

It’s a complicated due to so many factors. It’s something that will imo increase in developed countries as well.
To start with resistance has become quite vague which complicates the issue even more.
A major problem could be availability of antibiotics and the length they are taken for. If the initial course is insufficient and a course of antibiotics is repeated the chances of bacteria developing resistance increases. The initial course must be adapted and the patient must follow it to the end. This often is not the case.
One complication is that since the developed world has been trying to limit antibiotic treatment investment in developing antibiotics has been cut. This means the bacteria evolve and we no longer keep up.
Resistance is a genetic change that causes certain antibiotics to become inefficace. Sometimes certain bacteria are classed as being resistant that are not, for example some bacteria have biological life style changes that are a defense to ‘hardship’ like clustering.
As I said it’s complicated and as with viruses and vaccines the only way to keep up with genetic changes is research yet that has been cut to a large extent.

.This is such barbaric and insance attack on innocent people travelling on public transport.
Maybe, train stations need more security, transport police and have some sort of airport scanning before travellers board trains to reassure the public.

I was thinking along the same lines ; a robbery which went wrong and quickly escalated perhaps. But who knows ?

Its very confusing, because an isolated space like a train is the last place you would think of committing an offence of this gravity. Unless you’d planned a Raiders of the Lost Ark type of escape.
