On a related side note, this is why I dislike public discourse after such emotive events. It almost invariably is about emotional reaction rather than any logical, objective evaluation of the situation, and often leads to bad public policy rather than improved outcomes, because the pound of flesh must be had.
I think people lack perspective. We (the UK) have had things like Dunblane and Hungerford, as well as London 2005 bombings - and beyond that there was also the IRA campaign/period. This was an individual. So was Harold Shipman - arguably an individual that will likly hold the “record” for the foreseeable future…
The point would be we are too quick to jump to a conclusion and, maybe, particularly with this sort of thing. We want a quick explanation as this ultimately comforts our chosen world view and allows us to “carry on as normal”.
Life is complicated and things take time to understand. The need for an instant answer is childish.
You should be aware that Grok’s database is only what is on Twitter, so while it can be a helpful free tool (I never use it, I would use another AI instead), if most people on Twitter are on the opinion that something is fact, then this is what Grok thinks. Grok is so often wrong that it is sort of a meme on twitter.
In general, anything that could be controversial and politically divisive, you cannot use Grok on and expect reliable answers, since Grok does not distinguish well between reliable and unreliable sources and will parrot not only misinformation, but also obvious disinformation. In short, Grok, while a friendly chap if you talk to him, is not very bright and among the worst AI bots on the internet in terms of filtering reliable information from unreliable (Grok is also terrible at translating languages, but that is besides the point).
Grok sounds like a very basic search engine.
Only rehabilitation, which the UK is absolutely terrible at, since the focus in the UK is mere incarceration and punishment; is known to greatly decrease rates of serious crimes and reoffending.
Then you can say, we can execute them all instead of sentencing them. And you could, but in so doing, you create such a cold hearted society, with so little respect for life, that this again will increase murder rates greatly. The alternative is State Terror, such as in Nazi Germany, North Korea or the Stalin era. That works well, everyone is petrified. This is also by far, the most effective way of getting rid of what you call “Sub Humans”.
Only respect for fellow man can decrease murder rates in combination with social factors.
As for mental illness, that has been a mitigating factor since ancient times. At times, of course, the mentally ill were executed anyway because they were a burden, at other times, locked up. But it has been seen as a mitigating factor for responsibility of said crimes for a rather long time. Since around 1700 at least in modern criminal laws. So yes, it is here we are. Everywhere in the world except the worst places on earth.
It kind of is. But on some subjects, it can actually be pretty good , I have observed. You just have to be cautious, not using it on controversial topics and be aware of its limitations and the fact that it’s programmer has a clear agenda.
After all, who forgets the week where Grok parroted “White Genocide in South Africa” after having been asked every unrelated question. I don’t for sure. Musk had been playing with it and fucked up.
You are correct Magnus, only now are the UK rolling our rehabilitative facilities, with workshops and training etc. some are complete some to open.
Regarding Mental Illness, this is the bit on someone insane murdering someone in 1274, from Magnus Lawgiver’s Laws of the Land from 1274
Now, this law was hardly typical for the Middle Ages in Europe. In fact, it is the most humane and liberal law-work of it’s time, something it is very famous for (King Magnus was a very devout Christian and had been raised by Franciscan friars, so his mild penalties for the criminal offences are very note worthy for its time).
But even if this is an extraordinary liberal law work for its time, I really do think that people today, should be at least, as socially advanced as Post-Vikings who were used to brutal war in a brutal world.

But yes, insanity being a mitigating factor, is indeed, “where we are” also in 2025.
But regarding why one should be careful around Grok and at least challenge the bot, here is an example from today:
He answers like a friendly and very polite imbecile.
I’m not sure what the point of an AI agent is that needs constant manual fact checking.
Yes !!!
Grok is ok with football results and similar light-hearted trivia, but totally useless when its substance.
Ive no objection to shatting all over the concept of AI. It will be one hell of a life when coupled with Dig ID.
The beginnings of a process where virtual reality is intended to become more real than reality itself.
TBF Grok was created by Elon Musk, so naturally is an imbecile
Re: The Huntington Train Knife Attack
Nottingham Forest fan Stephen Creen ran towards where people were being attacked and tried to overwhelm the man using only his bare hands. He was stabbed 6 times.
Asked why he ran towards danger to confront the attacker, he said: “I think there was no other choice. It just didn’t dawn on me not to. My motive was to protect people. I think it’s just in my blood. I will always do that. I was scared, but then it went away. You just do whatever. You just go with it.”
What an absolute hero. ![]()
A very impressive man…
Arise , Sir David of Peckham.
I am shocked. Who would have thought it?
