Breaking News Thread

Given that we are in lockdown, why should special arrangements have been made? Because they were going to do it anyway? As I explained earlier, we worked with the authorities over months to organise outdoor events under far more relaxed regulations.

Just to get it straight @Mascot I just made a general comment in a sardonic way, it is not my fault, my humour doesn’t get understood.
Most of the guys on TAN are decent, super and lovely and I love the banter on here most of the time.
I have known some of the guys for years and from outside the TAN as well. I know, if I went out to an evening Champions League match or the pub with them, they would look out for me, they would see I got home or in a train safely, or they would help a woman in deep distress in public. This really means alot to me.

This week has been hard to deal with, on top of the Covid pandemic restrictions.

All I want is some peace, I am not here to fight with anyone. Life is too short to nitpick at every detail. I am just tired of everything… just so tired :weary: :disappointed:. As soon as our season is back on track with the fans, we can focus on the positive sides of life. :disappointed:

As per my post, given the context. If you don’t understand context, google it
The world is not black and white.

It is under a pandemic with a stay at home order in place. That is absolutely unequivocally black and white.

I’m 190 cm, 90 kg. I’ve come across quite some women who would have been able to beat the shit out of me, had they wanted to. More than what you’d think. I once practiced Ju Jitsu for a while. The most aggressive and physically powerful member of our group was a girl. Outside of the courses, she was a lovely lady of which you’d never have assumed that she was so strong. We got on very well and were talking about all kinds of matters. When we went on the tatamis though, she instantly became a fearsome fury. She was the only one who was able to fight with our master at an almost similar level.

From my personal experience, most of this ‘strong men, weak women’ talk is bullshit.

There’s always an exception. But you can’t in good conscience as an honest debater claim that men and women are anything like the same on average when it comes to physical ability.

Have I missed the women in pro mens’ football, rugby, cricket etc? Don’t you think it would be 50/50 if they were equal?

If a fully trained police- or fire-woman came to rescue me, I’d be perfectly fine with it, and confident that she’d do the job. Again, that’s based on personal experience.

My 2am example with a house full of burly men? Good luck there.

Fully trained policewomen who have practiced a martial art and have the right skills and aptitudes for the job they chose to do, can easily deal with some random 6ft burglars.

(and fortunately, not all burglars are 6 feet tall…)

Is martial arts training a requirement? What if the burglars are all black belts? Look, I get that a fully trained police officer is capable of dealing with almost every situation they’ll come up against but there will always be times when size matters. Particularly carrying people out of a burning building.

We get it Kloppo… you would rather get the kiss of life from a 6’0" Burly Fireman than a petite pretty faced angel that has just dragged your arse out of a burning building…! :0)
Only Kidding Kloppo… Everyone has their own merits eh
Wouldn’t bother me who turned up at 2am to rescue me…
as long as they had been trained to do so and knew what they were doing

Maybe Sarah was breaking lockdown? Was she even out for an essential reason I wonder? What do you reckon??

I’ve no idea. Her murder was utterly brutal and should be investigated and charged to the limit of the law. That’s not what we’re discussing here though. But back to my point?

Your point is that there is a lockdown and therefore no one should be out unnecessarily. We know that. If the police had, as they do here often, come to some sensible arrangement and used some common sense and descretion, there would not have been the protests and the potential escalation that will lead to considerably more person to person contact now (see livvy’s post above); and women would feel that their fears were actually being taken on board.
Anal and obtuse attitudes like yours make these types of situations much worse than they need to be.

You keep talking about finding burly men in your house. Is everything OK. Are you trying to tell us something?
