Does that mean that brutal dictatorships should go unchallenged?

I wonder what kind of patriot pilots these guys are. If they were Norwegian I would be ashamed of them and call them traitors.

I know it is not technically treason, not technically probably even illegal; but it is betrayal.

But yeah, Mammon is a potent god indeed.

I would argue that on a personal level, it does exist for individuals. Anyway, I find this loathsome.

I would agree that ethics and morality should matter. But the neoliberal ideology aims at removing these values and replacing them with individualism and greed.

Borrowing from Macbeth, it is time to destroy the house of Saud by means fair or foul.

Even if it’s not ‘treason’, the security services should detain each of these people on suspicion of being a spy then hold then per the max allowances under legislation. It could also be publicised who they are so their family, friends and neighbours are made aware they are taking money from the CCP to make their airforce and country less safe. Lots of these airforce types have a lot of ego and like to bask in the ‘I served my country’ and may think twice if that reputation would be ruined.

No, definitely not. But I just lose my sanity thinking that so many lives were wasted for nothing.

It depends on what they are doing but I would suspect that it comes under the official secrets act. I know that when I had security vetting it was drilled into us that even minor details could be useful to those with malicious intent so I would have thought that would cover everything for a combat pilot.

Then again, we have seen senior politicians with clear connections with hostile regimes and no one bats an eyelid. These laws are only meant for the little people.

So does that make Newcastle Utd officially a ‘project of jihad’ ?

The problem here is interference from the outside. Lybia was bombed back from an advanced, educated nation, to the current middle ages by NATO. Yemen are victims of a proxy-war between SA and Iran, who are themselves helped by bigger allies. Egypt has become a military dictatorship again with the help of the US and Israel, in the name of stability. Assad is still in power thanks to Russia.

Let’s be clear about the following. The bigger powers don’t want parts of Africa, Asia or the Middle East to become strong, independent and organized democracies, because they know that it would be the end of their dominance on these areas of the world. Rule and divide is the way to go. Keep them poor, uneducated, instable, under the leash of corrupt dictatorships, and the big multinational companies will then be able to continue their usual plundering of the ressources, and to enjoy super-cheap workforce for the production of all the goods.

And if necessary, unleash a war in order to create even more havoc.

You have to be careful what you say about these so you don’t hurt their delicate feelings.

Someone asked what was wrong with City’s owners on Facebook so I posted a link to Amnesty International’s report on the UAE. Now I have Facebook restricted for 7 days apparently.

Really? This is quite shocking.

Being religious gives you special rights not to be offended. Of course some religions take this more seriously than others so the internet polices accordingly. You could happily take the piss out of Christians on FB. Westborough Baptist Church for example.

I’ve already had that on here mate. I made my feelings known about that country , and the loathsome brand of Islam that it exports , at the time of the takeover , and it wasn’t long before I was being accused of racism.

On a similar note , and more to your point , there has also been similar accusations levelled at Klopp from ‘sources within City’ after the weekend. It’s just more deflection from those who are unable to show either respect , humility or shame.

I absolutely did not mention religion. It was purely related to the human rights record of the UAE.

FWIW this was the link:

I think what galls me about UAE, Qatar, Saudi and other sportswashers is that they will pay ridiculous sums to obtain the services of the best sportspeople but treat migrant workers from South Asia and Africa in conditions that are tantamount to slavery. If they want to splash their money on gaudy, skyscraper-strewn metropolises in the desert then fine, but they can treat their workers with respect and dignity if they want to play with the civilised world.

That’s a really confusingly written piece that I’m struggling to pull together.

Yup. Like those British pilots, some of our guys were helping China get better. Luckily, it seems a lot of the enabling technology is still designed and built in the U.S. For me, it’s a thank goodness Xi is taking China back to heavily handed government involvement in business. Should work out well for them.
