Bayern scored but offside

Good point for Leverkusen

I guess the draw is deserved. Leverkusen did really well after a bit of a nervy start.

By the way for all our fans moaning about the Saturday lunchtime kick off.
These teams played on Friday evening after the international break.

Xabi has to be in with shout (if he keeps this up) for klopps job after he goes

Nice game, though I admit I only watched it because of Alonso. It makes sense for him to join Bayern or Man City should he continue like this but I think that we still hold some sway over him.

I liked what I saw from his Bayer team tonight, how he adapted to a superior side when he normally tries to dominate possession. Bayer have some pretty athletic and intelligent players, he seems to make their team stronger than the sum of its parts.

Not sure why it would make more sense to join Man City than us, Bayern job will likely be up soon and he played there but his son is a Liverpool fan and there is literally no connection to Man City.

If all things being equal I can see him picking us over them but it’s all far too soon anyhow.

Please don’t be offended, but I think I speak for everyone when I say that I would much rather see Xabi at the helm at Anfield than your good self.

He’s a former player of Guardiola and his possession-based style is very much in line with how Guardiola sets up his team. I doubt he won’t be on their radar in the future in case he continues this form.

I think some people are still underestimating Xabi. He is a total package. Was on the pitch. Is on the sidelines and will be as a manager. As a person.

Seen it all. Won it all.

A football genius and that’s why he did not have to work as an assistant and went straight to one of the bigger leagues.

Bayern and Real were already interested in him. All the big clubs will be from now on.

Speaks Spanish, English and German and I’m sure he’s build a huge network (agents, players, coaches etc…) over the years.

He managed Real Madrid youth and Real Sociedad B for a few years. Not quite being an assistant manager, but also important experience gathered at a lower level.

He might be but Pep is a manager at Man City.

Alonso played for us, seems to have an affinity with us and his son is a fan of ours. I think we’d have far more sway than a manager leaving saying who he suggests.

I’d say I’d be more worried about Madrid.

I think timing works against us here.

Klopp leaving in 2026 but can not see Xabi staying at Leverkusen until then. Will be in charge of Bayern or Real by then - they will need new managers soon.

Dortmund…

:man_facepalming:

They are crap. With Flick available again, I wonder if Dortmund will soon be tempted to change manager.
