Caoimhin KELLEHER: 2020/21

His feet are fine, can see what you mean when coming off his line but again he is probably better than 50% of the PL keepers.

We will need a second choice if he goes at least for this season. Regardless of how highly you rate the youngsters.

I would certainly hope so. Even if we keep both Adrian and Kelleher, I would want us to get an actually serviceable back up.

Adrian needs to go he simply isn’t good enough for a number 2.

You are already counting the goals he will concede before the team sheet is announced.

So did Graberra, which is possibly why as of a year or two ago the coaches seemed to start thinking Kelleher was the better keeper.

Two massive saves for Ireland vs Hungary in the 80+ minutes.

Yes, he had an excellent performance in the second half, very impressive. (He didn’t play first half)

Make any saves? Only saw the first half

Two excellent saves a couple of minutes apart. Did the bread and butter stuff without any fuss too. He looks better every time I see him. He will be a solid #2 for LFC, if he’s happy to be one.

Cracking footballer. Both footed aswell, not many players like that nevermind keepers. I’d say on par with Ali for foot work. Him and Bazunu both unlucky both are so young.

It was the reason Klopp said he brought him in for that Spurs game if I remember. I really have my doubts that Adrian would be second choice based on that.

Like this lad,a good keeper now,can only get better.
I hope he stays on as #2,if he wants to.
Adrian will go,and it seems unlikely in the extreme we’d splash on another quality Keeper if Kelleher is happy to stay.
He will get plenty of games, that is for sure.

He and the other young goalie for Ireland are making headlines on BBC Sport’s front page.

Here’s a quote from the match report:
Kelleher, who deputised for Liverpool’s number one Alisson when the Brazilian was injured last season, pulled off two stunning saves to keep Szalai and Attila Szalai out as the hosts pressed for a perfect send-off.

I still think he should be loaned out to continue his development. He won’t improve just by sitting on the bench. Having said that, I wish it were someone else on the bench and not Adrian.

How long does he have left on his contract? If its only a year (as I think I read previously) then no point sending him on loan. With Allison’s proclivity for injury, I expect he’d get half a dozen games with us if he stays which would be much better for us than Adrian but also for him.
That said, hopefully he signs a new deal/already.

Karius is available :upside_down_face:

We should give him a new contract, then.

Well, Karius is the better goalkeeper …

Your kidding, right?

Liverpool have no intention of sending Caoimhin Kelleher out on loan as the young goalkeeper celebrated another landmark in his burgeoning career. [@LivEchoLFC]

No, I think Adrian is useless. He was unwanted at West Ham and I don’t know why we are keeping him.
Karius isn’t a bad goalie but he’s mentally scared for life. Ideally we would be buying a back up goalie this summer instead of keeping Adrian.

Edit: I see that the Echo reckons we’re keeping Kelleher at Anfield. So why are we also renewing Adrian’s contract?

Karius is/was the biggest pile of poop we ever signed in that position, i call him the rubber man physically just not a goalkeeper.

Unwanted at West Ham? Surplus to requirements, even so I don’t see how that inflinges on our clubs decissions. We have one of the best Keepers in the world to fret about who sits on the bench when he’s injured seems silly.seems silly. Unless it’s Karius of course.

I suppose we are extending his contract as it’s an option and we feel the need for 3 GKs which seems sensible to me (having 3 keepers that is). I don’t know exactly why the club have decided to extend his contract I just assume it’s better than the other current options.

We could, perhaps, buy an experienced goalie who’s better than Adrian, stick him on the bench and let Kelleher go out on loan and get some experience playing week in week out.
