Say what you like about him, but Goldbridge spent the second half of last season insisting that despite results they were playing like garbage, and was totally against appointing Carrick for that reason.
Its the predictability of it all that makes it so satisfying.
Aye but if you go against the fan narrative , you get fan engagement disagreeing with you. You also get rival fans watching and engaging to watch and read the outrage.
It is basic content creator method. Whatever makes the most income.
Until they go 30 years without a PL title, I do not have a shred of sorrow for them.

I donāt think thereās enough characters - enough men in there - but I donāt see him as a senior player at Manchester United. I see him as a centre-half whoās making lots of mistakes.

Hopefully they are patient with Carrick. Back your man ![]()
My slight concern is that if they do decide to part company at some point, the excellent Fabian Hurzeler might come in and sort them out.
Mind you, they are such a shower, from the Glazerās, to Catweazle-the-tax-dodger, to Wilcox the Executive
, Bruno et al. that I donāt think a bright manager is going to fix it.
The rot has set in, from the top down. It has been that way for years.
Good.
I wonder of Ronaldo is looking for a new challenge yet?
Man Utd managerās job?
I donāt think a bright manager is going to accept the job, so thatās it covered both ways ![]()

Canāt see it being the Brighton boss and considering Brighton still seem to be able to withstand losses of both manager and players whose to say dropping him in at Man Utd would mean they improve.
After all Brighton is evidently set up well like Brentford and Man Utd ā¦. Well.
At this point, any young up-and-coming manager should be strongly advised to stay well away from the job. Itās the most obvious poisoned chalice in existence. Look at what happened to every manager after Fergie once they were inevitably sacked - Moyes toiled in utter mediocrity before going back to Neverton (but he is a winner), LVG basically just retired, Mourinho wallowed around in Turkey and at Roma before somehow getting the Real job again, Ole is back to being a PE teacher, Ten Hag has disappeared into obscurity, and Amorim might get lucky and save his career by not being shit with AC Milan.
Hurzeler will have a job for life at Brighton if he wants it, or when heās ready can walk into any setup he likes at a top club, either in England or abroad. Thereās no point taking the United job when you can rest assured it will only damage his career.
Theyāre basically stuck trying to hire Ancelotti away from Brazil, or maybe Enrique if/when PSG gets rumbled the same way City have.
Over onāt Caf theyāre mostly clamoring for Conte to come in and āgive these players a kick up the arseā and hopefully win things, but it wonāt happen. Heāll come in, demand some senior signings, play only senior players, win fuck all, complain, then get sacked.
Their doom spiral is almost like nothing Iāve seen before. Like, we had it bad for about a decade with Souness/Evans, then Houllier came in and we won some trophies, restored a bit of clout, finished runners up to the invincible Arsenal that season. Then we had Rafa who won us a CL and an FA Cup, put together an incredible squad in 08 and unfortunately ran into Fergieās best-ever squad (IMO). Point is, after 15 seasons since our title in 1990, weād won some cups, a UEFA cup, and a Championās League. Came very close in the league a couple of times. But we werenāt stuck in a cycle of hiring and sacking managers, mixed with bringing in a bunch of old boy caretakers. Our worst period was post-Rafa when we went for about 6 seasons of winning nothing but that one League Cup Kenny won us. Klopp came in and changed everything.
They will need that type of miracle manager to come along, coupled with changes in club hierarchy and putting a system in place where good players can be found that fit the squad perfectly. Hereās to 15 more years of shite for them.
Barney Ronayās article.
How do you solve what is, on revenue versus results, the worst-run club in world football? By changing the name of the latest patsy on the touchline, of course.

Harry Maguire, signed under Ole Gunnar SolskjƦr, remains the best straight defender. But Maguire is also essentially a man-shaped solid wood armoire in a pair of shorts at this stage in his career, always the slowest person on any pitch

Why do we talk about Manchester United so much? For obvious reasons. Itās a massive part of the English football landscape. Mainly, though, because this is a story of mind-bending waste, real-time elite-level incompetence played out on a weekly basis.

So, I am having a Sunday night post-footie beer, catching up on TAN, and I come to this line: ādestined to become a pop-up vape shop run by Albanian money launderersā
you owe me a new keyboard
Heās aged. Iāve been as happy as any red to have a little pop at him over the years, as he has had a one-eyed nasty streak about him.
I donāt know if it is his advanced years now, but Iām a bit conflicted.
He was definitely one of the best managers weāve seen. No qualms about saying that. Obviously it all converged with Man Utd exploiting the new Premier League, and its commercial opportunities, faster than most. And he benefitted from a few years of patience at the start, after coming down from Aberdeen, that managers just donāt get any more.
I suppose I can take joy in him having to watch a lengthy lean spell, post-retirement, as they have won nothing of consequence and donāt look like they will any time soon.
Not sure what Iām saying really. Maybe just a human thing, that itās hard to have a proper laugh at the expense of an old man. To a point mind. That doesnāt apply to Trump and the like.
A knob is a Knob, no matter how old and wrinkly it becomes.
