Said all along the moment we play anyone half decent our CBs will be shown up for what they are.
Teams don’t win the CL with players like Kobak (yet) or Phillips (gives it every thing but is way out of his depth especially in CL).
To be fair I thought Phillips and Kabak were 2 of our better performers on the night
If Fabinho had played that pass to one of our forwards to make it 1-0 to us, everyone here would have been wanking themselves silly over the goal.
Sometimes, you just have to accept that your opponents were class and, on that goal, they were tonight.
We tried passes like that several times throughout the game, they were dealt with by their defence. It is what it is. We just have to score more than they do at Anfield and hope its enough. I hope there’s a bit of a shake up of personnel though. Too many players are being picked on past performances rather than current form.
The problem is - tonight we didn’t play our game… we did for 20 mins of the second half… but lost out way.
First of all we can definitely win 2-0 in the second leg.
Yesterday however the tactics were just wrong.
Starting Keita was a big mistake and at least Klopp held his hands up to that by pulling him before half time.
Fact of the matter is that we gave modric and Kroos too much time on the ball, they knocked balls into the channel and hey ho - y’a through on goal Vini.
Second leg needs to have Thiago pulling strings alongside Fab and Gini.
Come on reds…
Not sure if I want Nat starting the return leg, since we’ll have to more or less chase it. Not throw the kitchen sink straight from the off, because the next goal basically kills us, but 2 goals against Real is a task.
We’ll have to maybe divide the team we’ll start with and a team to finish the game, probably still needing a goal or two.
Thinking of a double pivot central midfield and unleash the front 4 at some stage (if not earlier). We’ll see when we get there after Villa.
The problem is who do you play in his spot?
We need Fabinho in his customery midfield role or we lose all balance and shape in the middle of the pitch, especially now that Hendo is out injured. So that leaves us with no viable alternative, unless we try Thiago, which is an even bigger risk
If we drop Phillips who goes into centre defence?
Phillips and Kabak Have to start.
Unless Klopp fancies sticking his studs back on… he was a defender wasn’t he
Yeah, but what Nat is doing at the back… dear me, he blindly rushes forward in the hope that he gets onto something or the attack somehow breaks down. With a different midfield structure, maybe we could do with Fabinho at RCB. I don’t see us chasing the game very successfuly with Nat at CB. For me, as things stand, it might be only a matter of time before he’s exploited again and Real get the next goal in the tie. Sure, a better team performance than last night would help him, but we’ll have to play a different type of game, too.
I would deffo put Milner in the centre in fact he probably should have started yesterday
It’s shaping up to be the vilest semi-final line-up imaginable.
Three oil-clubs and Real Madrid. It couldn’t get worse indeed…
Fuck that.
It’ll be lovely.
We’ll beat Chelsea in the semi and then PSG in the final.
Keep the positivity lads ey?
On a brighter note league wise when we win on the weekend, and if the results go our way like the majority of the results did last week end we’ll be 4th
(Sorry to sound all Arsenal but to finish 4th this year would be an achievement)
Let’s hope Madrid pick up some key injuries tonight…
I hate Barca but I’d have them win tonight
Vazquez injured
They sort of need to lose Vinicius in some way.
