Championship and Football League

Still don’t rate Rooney at all but he at least has been getting some results.

A player got booked for the imaginary card waving in this Watford game.

Good.

2nd assist for the wee oakie Doakie this afternoon, been the best player on the pitch by some distance. Beats his man for fun and he loves doing it. Drop of the shoulder and see ya later pal.

Could and maybe should’ve scored with the headed chance he had from the corner moments before.

BBC needs new headline writers, this makes it look Colchester is condemning the allegation, not the racism.

I think that’s a better one.

Somehow missed Frank Lampard being made Coventry.

Shame I was hoping to see them finally make the PL.

Rooney has been sacked in probably the most predictable outcome since the night follows day.

He was useless in all his previous jobs so why Plymouth felt he would achieve against all that data is beyond me.

Hopefully they can find someone to get them out of it.

It is bewildering that he just keeps getting chances simply because of the name from his playing career. I guess the no-win situation at the end of his Derby stay obscured how poor he really was, but I struggle to see how any board could look at his time at DC United and say ‘hire that guy’, which is exactly how he got his Birmingham spot. His tenure there should have been the end unless he chooses to go down to League Two or lower and actually put in the work to learn his craft.

His ability as a player seems to have given him a gross overestimation of his own tactical insight, and at the same time left him with enough of an ego that he is a woeful man-manager.

The next Everton manager then.

Don’t like Stevie’s decision of taking the Saudi job but he probably knew he wasn’t cut out for management.

Take the Saudi job and the guaranteed cash. Underperform and probably get the sack for the layout.

It’s better than being exposed for being a dunce like how Fwank and Rooney are doing right now. Stevie got Rangers to win and end the Celtic dominance so probably still has a better CV.

Even the idea of him going to League Two and just getting another manager job is a bit gross. There isn’t a reliable database of highly qualified coaches that I can find but in 2017 there were reported to be 1700 UEFA A-Licensed coaches in England. Most of those are people who have worked their way through the system for years and either paid, or earned the right for a club to pay, the exorbitant fees associated with becoming a professional coach in England. The A-License is over 13k for example - with a 90% fail rate.

The number of coaches is undoubtedly higher now and so many of them would absolutely kill for a chance of just working full time nevermind being offered the chance to manage a League Two club. League Two isn’t a consolation prize for Rooney, it should be considered something far outside of his abilities.

It is also pretty insulting how ex-players are parachuted into coaching badges on the assumption they know what they are talking about. For example here is Jermain Defoe’s assesed session on the UEFA A License course. See if you can figure out what the hell he is talking about and what exactly is being coached here. Guarantee you if he wasn’t a former professional then he would not have passed with this mess of a session (the link is tiktok apologies but it’s the only place I found it)

I’m sorry but I’m a High School coach in America with no badges currently - my FA ones expired - and I’m a far better coach than this.

It is actually rather embarrassing that it is the PFA that is calling attention to that session. The only thing that he is managing there is the confidence.

Plymouth’s 2025 calendar is a bit awkward…

Says a lot that they put the manager on there.

Liverpool has far as I have bought it never has. Even when Klopp was probably as safe as houses.

I have a soft spot for them due to my parents living in the south west but they need to seek someone who can do it. Might be worth seeing what Phelan can do.

Perhaps they will head back to Schumacher who made a terrible decision to move from there to Stoke when he was getting other job offers a lot better in that summer.

Stoke’s a graveyard for Graveyard managers.

Enjoying the alternative commentary the Millwall fan is giving on this Sky broadcast of their game against Oxford.

Everyone’s “fucking shit”.

Anyhow a good point for Plymouth post Rooney.

Just realized that Stoke have already had 4 different head coaches and we’re only halfway through the season. Wild.

And Koumas has been a consistent starter throughout.

Anyone excited by the options coming up?

Nah seems the usual bland lot.

Burnley look the usual absolute negative shit, Leeds are still generally entertaining and so are Middlesbrough.

Wouldn’t mind them or Blackburn coming up.

Not bad Ben, on your weaker foot too, not bad.

Can see why we rejected 16m.160m and not a penny less.
