An honest question:
Millwall seems to be perpetually cemented in the 9-15 spots of Championship.
Is it their ownership, management, or player quality…or all of the above?
Not utter shit…but no progression either.

It’s probably about their level. London club, but well down the pecking order compared to other London clubs so will rarely have any genuine talent come through their youth academy. Most will likely be good Championship or League 1 level players as the better talent will naturally end up at the other London clubs.
Also will struggle to attract players due to South Bermondsey and Deptford not being the greatest area in London to live in.
Thing is it doesn’t much matter where you work in London, not sure where Millwall train but it’s bound to be the south east area.
Just had a look and 3 years back they were looking to move to Kent, seems they are slowly building to try and make a push there was a serious chance of a playoff spot the past two seasons.
That has been something they were toying with about 6-7 years ago when a new tower block got built new The Den and residents started making noise complaints about the crowd and the club feared that the local council would try to push them out in favour of new residents.
There was also talk at some point about building a new training center outside of London, similar to Chelsea having their training center in Cobham in Surrey
Nah I meant the training centre it was muted 3 years ago in Kent.
I see Plymouth appointed a former Man Utd player and expected the different results.
It’s a shame as they did used to appoint promising managers but seem to be going for names and will probably drop another division.

Sheffield Wednesday in administration, and were already in last place. Now 15 points from safety, so almost certainly in League One under new ownership next year.
You would think the stream of fly-by-night overseas owners hoping to see a club jump up to the PL and rake in huge revenues would dry up - have any actually made it?
I ride past their training ground when I cycle into work, Ravensbourne just off Bromley Hill.
Pitches look nice but the buildings legitimately remind me of the changing rooms we used to use when I was playing U15s in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne.
Hopefully this is a new beginning for them. End of the day football time and time again doesn’t seem like it can run itself. Too many business men who think they can transfer their wealth to a sports club,
Have a mate over here who grew up literally blocks from Hillsborough. Next to LFC, he’s a Wednesday supporter..and although quite sad for them, he says it was inevitable this would happen. Present ownership hasn’t given a tinkers damn about the club or the supporters—just to get as much coin as possible.
Hopefully they can get back to some semblance of normalcy
The excuses not for it seem very vague and frankly a bit bollocks, League 2 is probably the same level as the National. League 1 is a bigger step though I would say League 1 and the Championship are closed than some would like to admit. PL and the Championship is eithier wide as some believe or some clubs just throw money without a plan.
I think Sunderland have demonstrated what a settled approach gets you.
I get very limited TV coverage over here (at best an occasional League 2 on ESPN+). Can’t say I have ever seen a National League match.
What is the flavor of these matches? Decent quality? Adequate grounds? Loyal followings? Glorified Sunday games?
Just curious ![]()
I would say it’s pretty much the same as most of League 2. Years ago it was semi professional but most clubs are now professional and they have gained a tv deal from Dazn which must be helping. I can’t see the EFL give in unless it’s forced somewhere else but they got a second team going up and I think since then it’s benefited the league.
There are a selection of teams constantly at the bottom of league 2 which tells it’s own story.
Birmingham sounding very ambitious:
Have to say Wembley should have had a roof, not sure more stadium haven’t thought about it. You can instantly pitch yourself for more concerts and say wrestling events.
Like it looks awful but ![]()
Retractable roofs are significantly more expensive, but really are fantastic. The louvred ends briefly made me think that was what Birmingham was setting out
The cost over time must work out though. We’ve got on in the UK at this time and it’s at the stadium that has probably the worst transport connections in a city that seems to have never understood the concept of a hotel.
If this happens it will be big for Birmingham to be honest.
