More ‘incompetence’ on display tonight I presume?
No, it was the correct call.
However, I can’t recall a controversial call going against City.
Dermots at it again on Sky Sports doing his RefWatch.
The highlight for me - “the referees are victims” - sorry Dermot but you are deluded here - the refs have all the power…poor refs.
On the Onana handball - he was so close to the kick from Ake, and in my view, his arm was in a natural position given the rest of his body position (sliding), that the penno was very very harsh. Dermot failed to mention City players kicking off with the ref (notwithstanding that it wasn’t the worst we’ve seen - but given the directive on approaching refs, cards should have been branded - and as I said in another thread, had we surrounded Tierney the cards would have been flashed quickly).
On the two Liverpool ones - explained away very quickly as expected.
The Salah one made me laugh - the ref had two choices - penalty or offside - and it wasn’t enough of a push for a penalty. Dermot might as well have said “can’t do nothing, can’t do nothing”
Horseshit as usual.
Mark Goldbridge hits several nails on their heads.
“Certain teams have benefited and others have been robbed”. You’ve got to like a feller who thinks we should have an additional four points and City should have two points fewer.
He must know that the majority of his audience is actually Liverpool fans.
The Elliot goal, a two handed push in a players back is a foul, it was done with enough force to propel Mo forward and offside, so how can someone say it isn’t a forceful enough to award a penalty.
For me you either allow the goal or you give a penalty.
Does anyone remember Newcastles goal against Arsenal.
Compare Joelintons push to Nunez
Yeah we know…cheers
Chances are Mo would have missed the penalty, but it would have been nice for him to have had the chance at least.
I’ve got to admire his honesty
What I find remarkable is just how poor a communicator Webb is. One of the themes across this new show he does with Owen is how little he actually references the guidance his refs have been given to interpret the rules. So often you will hear him say whether the right outcome was reached or not, but be no more informed on how the rules were applied to come to that decision.
In this specific incident he explains why the wrong outcome was reached because Odegaard got a big advantage from using his hand (utterly irrelevant in the decision making) and the feedback they have received says that people thought it should have been a pen.
Honestly, its no wonder the refs are confused if this is the direction coming down to them from the top
Clattenburg - who is employed by Notts Forest and was vocal against the Forest dropped ball farce has weighed in today on the non-award of the penno for the Doku challenge on Macca - reckons it was a pen.
Mike Dean however, who talks about footy law as final, said he just won the ball, so all good, but can see why it would be a penno. That’s horsrshit - how can he say that?! Didn’t Jones win the ball before he was sent off? So can kick a player in the chest, whilst grazing the ball, all good.
Games totally fucked isn’t it.
Another glaringly obvious error today.
Fernandes already on a yellow, how was his challenge on Dom not a yellow, and therefore a sending off?
Can’t ruin the spectacle mate. Don’t you know that’s the ultimate commandment in refereeing?
Pundits said the ref was trying to keep the game flowing…
Both McTominay and Fernandes should have received yellows; United should have been down to nine men in normal time.
But the ref sent off the young lad right at the end, so there’s clearly no bias.
The one sending off that has no grey lines but that 99% of football fans think is utterly stupid.
Sums football up.
The worst was that about 1 minute after Fernandes tries to break Szoboszlai’s leg, Gomez got a yellow card for winning the ball and getting kicked while doing it.
