This one isn’t, his back one wasn’t!

Why can’t Frimpong play in a back 4?

When he is 1 v 1 against an opposition winger he has mostly won the battle.

He is small and quick, both in a straight line and off the mark, he can change direction quickly and appears to have a good defensive stance.

The only area where I have a worry is aerially but from what I have seen he does have a good vertical jump, which you would expect from an explosive type of player.

Why do we listen to what pundits say and stereotype with what a wingback offers compared to a contemporary fullbacksay, rather than actually look at what the individual player actually does in those situations?

Martinelli actually faced up Frimpong in the game and didn’t fancy that he could do his normal and push and run past him with the ball as he knows Frimmy is faster.

On Connor, get well soon young fella, we need you back!

Good to hear it isn’t ACL, when it happened it looked more like a twist of the knee rather than the movement that typically causes an ACL injury, which is normally where the femur moves in and anterior or posterior motion whilst the lower leg is fixed.

Really insightful piece - Bradley should consider trying to simply not get injured

Yeah indeed… when assessing this season under Slot, we’d do well to take into consideration all these miserable events which have been hitting us time after time. Starting with Jota’s death, and then all these freaking injuries …

Errors might have been made in the run-up to it, but this is not a normal season by any standards.

Stay strong, Conor, and we’ll hopefully see each other again for pre-season next summer.

I didn’t say he can’t nor did I mention pundits and stereotypes, but we haven’t seen much of it (Frimpong at RB in a back 4) at the highest level.

We know where he played for Levekusen and where he usually plays for the Netherlands.

There’s ā€œa bitā€ more to footballers and being the right for for the position than pace, physical appearance and aerial skills.

No you didn’t mention, pundits or stereotypes, but your posts insinuates the stereotypical bit and what you said is typical of what pundits etc have said, rather than watching a player perform and that he has most of the tools to perform well.

The other things are positional and mental attitude, which, it could be said that our previous mainstay right back seemed to lackm in regards to the defensive side of the game, but provided for the team with his supreme abilty on the ball.

I don’t know what each pundit (even though I watch a fair bit) says about Frimpong, but I’m pretty sure they’re not all of the same opinion.

Some things are stereotype, some things are just… reality, what it is, no?

And I don’t know what is there to compare between Trent and Frimpong, but there you go. I mean, we can, but there aren’t many similar points between them. Two very different players.

You mentioned

The other things are the mental attributes, so I then mentioned Trent, who for me didn’t have the mental attribute to be typical RB and he was our 1st choice.

No it isn’t ā€˜reality’ it is a stereotype and that is what pundits and a lot of observers are doing, just becase a player has played wing back or a position more attuned to RW, doesn’t mean he can’t play a typical FB role.

I do agree with you that if Connor and Frimpong are available then Connor os the FB and Frimpong plays in front of him.

So physical attribues, pace, aerial attributes, mental and that’s it? Interesting.

Isn’t comparing Frimpong to Trent in this discussion the type of lazy observation you’d accuse pundits of? As in, if Trent could’ve been what he was at Liverpool, so can Frimpong.

Regardless that the similarities are so thin that they’re almost non-existent. What do they have in common?

Come on enlighten me
