Curtis JONES: 2022/23

Yes, unless I’m much mistaken we’ve only experimented briefly with him in that role rather than a regular thing? That aside, also that he mentions the right side with Salah.

Probably more about how he sees himself, and potential roles he can play, than meaning that he’s ben told he’s a 6 or a right winger.

well kiddo, we’re short on midfielders so now’s your time to earn a spot next to Thiago.

Second season in a row (so far) where it’s been stop and start for him.

Just want him fit now and to give his all, regardless where he’s needed on the pitch. Go out there, work your socks off, show your qualities and grab anything you can.

Hope he stays fit and keeps getting more and more mins.

I’ve always thought he looked desperate to score in every match (and it gets on my nerves more often than not) but that cameo last night just made me more eager to see him play more often. Yes, it wasn’t Real Madrid but this Wolves side should have won at Anfield against our strongest team, so…

I think he worked really hard on how to keep possession, especially in dangerous areas - the more I see him with the ball, the more I think he’s grown comfortable with it and that he knows when to lay it off, where to move to receive it etc. His skill set suggests that he can be a player who genuinely improves the dynamic of the side - but for now it’s about keeping himself fit first.

100% and I’d much rather a player keep the ball a fraction too long and we retain posession and our shape.

Our midfield had got to a point it was treating the ball like a nuclear warhead.

WTF! So another replacement to find…

Reduce the amount of playing time? To what?

What’s the source here, or is it a fan site quoting another fan site?

But it wouldn’t be the first time we hand out new contract extensions to players we struggle to see on the pitch for months.

Club specialists?

Probably what they did with Matip a few years back.

He isn’t on current form or fitness hard to replace. Infact we have two CMs doing a better job on loan.

He’s still young enough to persist with. Do whatever we have to do to get him right. Then see what he’s got.

Put him on the transfer market next summer.

For his own good he needs playing minutes and I can’t see him getting it here at the moment. We are likely to be buying a couple midfielders in the summer and the priority will likely be in integrating them in rather than giving Jones some much needed development minutes.

Still though, I would be reluctant to let him go permanently unless he forces a move but a loan away to get minutes would probably be a good idea.

First and foremost, he needs to stay fit. AOC, Milner and Keita, three players who are directly competing with him for the starting role or at least a place on the bench, are gone in the summer. That clears the path for him, even if Klopp signs two midfielders. I’m sure that Klopp will give him every chance to prove himself - why wouldn’t he, with all of his technical qualities and versatility - but only if he’s consistently fit and available.

He’s literally injured and the medical team has told him he shouldn’t be playing. He’s had some proper freak injuries, his eye and now this stress fracture.

I’m sure the kid is devastated but he’s 22 he’s earnt the right to another year or two of being fully fit to get a chance before we discard him no?

Will we have any players if Thomas has his way? Because we aren’t generating cash from those he is selling mainly due to age and we are losing about 4 players.
