Once he’s got back from his Pilates session
Have they signed a decent goalie yet? If not it seems to me all the talk over Alonso controlling things is just that.
What does all this spending by Chelsea do in regards to their future Europe options, as I am sure they have already fallen foul of the UEFA spending rules?
From BBC Rumours page …
Everton, Leeds United and Nottingham Forest are monitoring English forward Liam Delap, 23, who Chelsea value at up to £40m. (The i)
Buy striker scoring every three games at £30m, turn him into a striker scoring every 28 games. Profit! ![]()
They are already around £295m spent this summer, but have sold players to the tune of £118m (before Garnacho’s fee which they’ll get next summer - another PSR diddle)
I am expecting Enzo (prick) to leave for a huge fee. So in reality, unless they bring in a load more players (and risk their PSR balance), they’re prob fine.
Alonso also wants to cut down the centre backs at the squad - Chelsea news: Xabi Alonso says Blues will sell centre-backs - BBC Sport
That article states that Trevoh Chalobah, Benoit Badiashile and Axel Disasi are available for sale having been valued at £35m, £30m and £25m respectively
From what I’ve seen of Chalobah, he’s competent, home grown, experienced etc. Not spectacular, but the kind of player we should be looking at in terms of a relatively cheap option to provide depth and cover.
I don’t think I’ve paid much attention to Chalobah. Which could mean at least he’s not doing eye-catchingly silly things. He’s been in and around the national team as well hasn’t he? And we need a guy, we definitely need a guy. I’m in.
Was part of the England World Cup squad and was subbed on for 1 (ONE) minute at the end of the England France game for the bronze medal - his only apperance at the world cup.
So he’s rested!
They admitted to 74 breaches, and they get fined for less than what constitutes pocket change in today’s game. The transfer ban might be difficult for them though; I don’t know how they’ll get by without hoarding up footballers.
Buy them with one of their other clubs and leave them there until they can be registered at Chelsea presumably
This is a tough one. The league were concerned there was a real risk of Chelsea going under with the impact of the sanctions if they could not get a sale done ASAP. To try to expedite the sale and get it into a more stable situation they offered a deal to the new owners that if they bought it without doing full due diligence as long as they did that after the purchase was finalized then any malfeasance they find as part of that post-purchase process and self report will be treated lightly, and part of the funds used to purchase the deal included a few hundred million in escrow to pay for these penalties.
It looks bad for the Prem that they were so sure of the existence of fuckery that they structured the sale in this way and needed new owners to identify it for them.
As long as they don’t breach the rules again, that suspended ban doesn’t take effect - so zero impact.
You mean as long as they don’t get caught breaching the rules again ![]()
Part of the leniency given to Chelsea was down to the self reporting by the owners of the hidden payments (made when Ambramovich was in charge). From reading around it, when they bought the club, the PL allowed clearlake/todd to buy the club without undertaking full due diligence, on the proviso it would be done in future. Its that due diligence work that highlighted the dodgy payments.
Chelsea have eyes on them so id suspect they are keeping to the rules, just.
Yeah as I mentioned in the other thread the league were really concerned about Chelsea’s ability to continue to operate under the sanctions and so heavily incentivized an expedited sale. That didnt leave time for due diligence, so the deal was they would conduct an extensive process after the fact and pay whatever penalties came up from a portion of the purchase price that was set aside into escrow. Any balance remaining at the end of the process had been earmakred for Ukraine relief and so the fucked up part of it all is the more irregularities the new owners turn up the less relief money goes to Ukraine
It’s a suspended transfer ban.
Chelsea are always a bunch of dipshites who get away with a tap on their shoulders.
I posted in the NBA thread last week about Mark Walter, the owner of the LA Lakers, selling up to a consortium headed by a Kushner brother and the head of Disney (seemingly backed directly by UAE). He has only owned them for a couple of years, but is in trouble with the Feds over billions in financial mismanagement of his insurance empire and this is seemingly a way to free up cash to pay off some bills.
He is also one of the 3 individually named minority partners in Blue Co outside of the Clearlake Capital group, along with Boehly and some Swiss guy. There are reports now that Walter and Boehly are now trying to offload their Chelsea interest to Clearlake.
