Think playing many ‘reserve’ players in the Conference League is one of the main reasons for their success in the league.
Most first team players not even in their squad tonight.
Huge possibility that they will win that competition.

They’ve definitely not played their strongest sides, but most of the players have been senior players who moved there with expectations to play but who just arent in favour ATM rather than kids. So in that sense it’s been a nice competition for them to opportunities to players competing for first team games.
I read the trip is going to take them 12+ hours, and then they have turn around and play again on Sunday so makes sense to leave as many key players at home as possible.

They had three academy products in their starting eleven today. The others cost getting towards £200m between them.
Yet the media would have you believe that it’s just a bunch of plucky kids.

Yeah, even the “kids” they’ve played in this competition are mostly high priced prospects who have been recently signed rather than Morton/Danns types who made their way through the academy. Their very successful academy has given them a collection of England youth players who should be around the first team, but it’s only Tyrique George from this group who has had repeated and meaningful action in this comp.

Weird that they used Neto, given his injury history.
He’s got a lot of “wingers” and it seems he’s chopped and changed a lot across all competitions in that area before only recently seemingly settling on Muduke and Neto being his preferred options.
