It’s a shame, as he was a cracking young player coming through at city and then at Southampton.
I remember the frothing rage when we wouldn’t go over about £40m for him, and people were kicking off saying ‘They were willing to spend 100m on Caicedo. They’ve got the money! Just give them what they want!!’
Time and time again, the club prove they know best.
Sure but if ‘they knew’ they wouldn’t have been in for him at all. He looked like he’d have been the right signing for us at the time, hence the hopes that it would get done.
Lavia has been really good when he has played, back when Chelsea were our “closest challengers” it was based on Caicedo and Lavia playing to each other in midfield.
Unfortunately for him he just can’t stay healthy at the moment.
Selling stuff to yourself = profit, why did no one tell me I could do this?
What constitutes a football club? What is to stop owners selling off all the bits that don’t make money to another company they own? The wage bill? We’ve split that off into a separate company mate
Not looked for it, but I suspect that the supporters groups of the club are somewhat concerned that their club assets are essentially being stripped out of the clubs portfolio, into others owned by Boehly. I know I would be if FSG started doing this as I see this as reactionary moves to avoid short term PSR breaches - longer term, surely this is damaging to the club.
England play at best 6 home matches during the PL season, the Fall internationals and Six Nations. Neither of those are terrible growing periods, with a little bit of scheduling it should be manageable. The advanced turf/ grass fields like Anfield’s are far more resilient than just grass. The maintenance expense would not be trivial, but in the end it is a stadium that is empty for at least 5 months of the PL season
