Ornstein is reporting that despite City’s denials, Maresca openly told Chelsea he was in on going talks with people at city about replacing Pep should that job become available in the summer.

According to Ben Jacobs (who?) the main gripe Enzo had was he was being dictated to by the medical team about player availability and acceptable workload even of nominally fit players

Damn, he even took the steering wheel.

Chelsea forever a cluster fuck.

Anyhow if he is off to Man City it’s a win win, especially if he isn’t bothered about player injuries and fitness.

Fairly typical hit pieces out from Chelsea.

50-50 on whether this is a joke

Would his tactical understanding be any worse than Ruben’s?

Also a 50/50 question…

Don’t know what Chelsea expected at this stage, while also having comfortably the youngest first team squad in the league (average of 23.7), but there you go. Sometimes they just remind the world that it’s - Chelsea.

Maresca took over Chelsea that finished 6th the previous season (and 12th before that one) and no trophies in 3 years. Finished 4th and won 2 trophies. Currently 5th (which could also secure CL football) with 3 points behind us and still alive in all competitions. Where’s the panic and need to change?

I think they could’ve easily let him continue his work and add more experience to the group, in order to get closer to the biggest prizes.

Maybe there was really something extra problematic between Maresca and the decision makers.

Rosenior is the favourite to take over. Cesc, Farioli, De Zerbi and Iraola are the other names. These all feel like sideways moves at best.

Is it true they have five sporting directors??

Maybe? This is has been explicitly reported by pretty much everyone

Yeah I’ve heard some things and seen some headlines, but wasn’t bothered reading it.

They started with 2 but then just kept hiring additional people who had Sporting Director like titles (including our own Fallows) so from the outside no one knows and it’s possible they dont inside either. But there are also lots of reports of how hands on Eghbali has been since the beginning effectively being the real sporting director

Had a good laugh at the suggestion by one fan that they bring back Frank and John Terry.

Like he might be doing ok at Coventry however it’s probably Frank’s level.

This club is ridiculous. Maresca has stabilise the club on field to a great extent compared to the last few managers and somehow the owners and management could not find a way to coexist with him. Not that I mind seeing them in turmoil of their own doing but as a neutral, it’s a joke how they run a club.

(Un)fortunately, the next Chelsea manager looks like a very decent person.
