Darwin NUNEZ: 2022/23

And just as importantly, as soon as the ball broke was immediately looking for the pass. Pretty much a textbook example of how to thrive in this side, and done within minutes of coming on.

Looked at him a few times and didnā€™t seem to be covering Mo who had gone out of position. Comparing him pressing wise to Bobby who I think would have made the cover. Iā€™m probably wrong, just a spilt second thought

He wonā€™t be allowed to stroll around. Heā€™s been at the club 10 minutes, itā€™s often been thought of that it takes about 6 months to really understand how to play for us. Even someone as good as Thiago took a bit of time.

Diaz was the anomoly.

Anyway, with the way he moves and the size he is then it doesnā€™t really matter that much. Heā€™ll just bully teams.

50 quid on him being top goalscorer next season.

Salah will outscore him thoughā€¦

Nah, now weā€™ve got an out and out #9 youā€™ll see the goals distributed more evenly across the front 3.

Iā€™m predicting (In all comps); Diaz 17 goals, Jota 20 goals, Firmino 9 goals, Salah 26 goals and Nunez with a whopping 29 goals.

With Mbappe only getting 28.

Certain other teams I would back Salah but we donā€™t get enough penalties to bump up Salah by say 5-6.

I love Bobby and heā€™ll be the first player I will think of when I remember the Klopp era but he makes us too predictable these days. Opposing teams know exactly what heā€™s going to do and heā€™s become easy to shut down. Nunez is the complete opposite. Even from the small evidence base of a couple of games itā€™s clear teams donā€™t know how to handle him. Heā€™s constantly getting into scoring positions and could have easily had a hat trick today.

With Bobby not stretching the defense you see Diaz taking more responsibility to angle in off his wing and try to hit those spaces. That leaves a void on the left we need Robbo to fill. Today we werent getting enough good possession to enable Robbo to get that high reliably and it meant all our passing options were inside and we forced ourselves to play into the areas Fulham wanted us to. It then snowballs where Robbo cannot get forward well because we dont have good possession, which means our passing options are limited and we struggle to maintain possession. It was like a battle of wills that we needed to be braver to win.

Nunezā€™s runs changed the dynamic, but it also benefited from the fact we had started to see glimmers of evidence that Fulhamā€™s effectiveness without the ball was waning slightly meaning we already had a little more room to play in. I think he compunded it, but he didnt cause it.

All I know is that the ladā€™s played less than 2 halves of football for us, scored twice, won a penalty, had an assist and could have scored 4 more goals. He makes things happen. That much is obvious.

If he becomes a bit more clinical :star_struck::heart_eyes:

Iā€™m sure Jurgen and the coaches are working on this.

He takes shots, lots of themā€¦ That means heā€™s in the right place and heā€™s causing problemsā€¦

Thatā€™s the problem with Bobby, too perfect, too few shots. He will be great with 20mins to go, to bring on vā€™s tired legs but the future if Nunez on the shoulder over and over. The amount of space he created for Salah was crazy, straight away Salah went for having a CB and FB covering him to one v one vā€™s the FB and demolished him.

This! Exactly this! Nunez occupies the CBs and distracts them. That frees up Diaz and Salah.
