Darwin NUNEZ: 2024/25

Me too. Haven’t seen the thread but what about:

Octopus (natural GK surely?);
FB: Cheetah and Gazelle;
CB: Elephant, Rhino;
Midfield: Lion, Gorilla, Otter;
Wide Forwards: Wolf, Tiger
CF: Fox!

Surely at defensive midfield it would be a honey badger?

Think that’s just confirmation bias going on… If all the rumours were that he was staying and signing a new contract, he could have the exact same body language and yet it would be a completely different interpretation.

Pfffft.

Has to be a blue whale. Even dead, you won’t get a shot past him.

We hear that he still has support from where it matters most, the stands. Regardless if it’s a sprint that ends up being heavily offside or he clatters into someone. Liverpool fans are a proud bunch, it’s a bit like “he’s a mad bastard, but he’s our mad bastard”. However, naturally there are fans, me included, who can easily separate objective opinion that he’s not good enough for us and still sing his chant with that default wish that our players feel support and do well. All that said, I also think that it’s coming to a point where he wouldn’t be against moving and trying his luck elsewhere (and no, I don’t doubt his willingness to give 100% while he’s here). It’s really not a big drama whether he is for us or not. 3 years is a good go at this top level. There are other players for us and other clubs for him. It was reported that he was open to Saudi in January. Either that or Europe, we’ll see.

Yes, I was thinking of an elephant in goal. I’d also get a giraffe up front, mainly because I’ve always been a fan of Peter Crouch.

This was the argument of the guy who wouldn’t put the fox at 9.

You either put the fox in the box or you dont have room for him. This isnt about getting your best players on the pitch, its about putting together a coherent team with players in roles they are suited for. This is the equivalent of playing Paul Scholes in LM to accommodate Gerrard and Lampard.

That’s why you have the classic big giraffe-small fox in a 4-4-F-2 lineup!

We have had a Flying Pig - he did a good job for us :0)

Who are they?

Niall Quinn and Kevin Phillips. Played up front for Sunderland together. Quinn was I think at Arsenal before moving to Sunderland. Also played for Man City. Phillips started at Southampton before moving into non league football. Popped up again at Watford before moving to Sunderland where he was quite prolific and earned an England call up

Ha. I was going to say “of the modern era” but second guessed it thinking I’d be mocked for thinking 99 was the modern era :rofl:

Joke aside, I’ve always had a soft spot for big strikers with excellent heading skills. In tight games, like Champions League matches, I always feel that kind of players could score from nowhere and change the games, even when their team playing badly. Giroud, Llorente .. and now maybe Chris Wood - they’re not always suitable for the starting lineup, but they’re very decent plan B options.

Haha @Limiescouse

You get to get mocked either way…
