I think €70M and the deal will be done. Al Hilal. Let’s see.
Then we have to sign a central defender. We are patient! Guehi is the one, but if Palace are holding out for a bigger fee, we will move on to another target and come back for Guehi in January/next summer. Palace will feel the pressure of potentially losing him for nothing, and all of a sudden 35-40M tops will see a deal done. Much better than nothing, for them.
Then Isak. The barcodes had to/have to, go through their own version of the five stages of grief - denial, anger, bargaining, depression and finally acceptance.
We are nearly there.
Good luck to Darwin Nunez. If it is Al Hilal I hope he is paid a fortune and rehabilitates his reputation so that he has another good European club.
My suspicion is that they aren’t holding out for a bigger fee, but are waiting for either the Charity Shield to be played, or linning up their replacement before they let him go
Let’s hope it isn’t the standard Italian offer of on loan for the season with no fee, wage contribution or obligation to buy and deal is dependant on Darwin having enough air miles saved up to make his own travel arrangements.
I expect it is. Lets hope that the club can dismiss it ASAP and Darwin can focus on the only real offer and come to terms with living surrounded by Sand so we can get business finalised promptly.
I wouldn’t be surprised if AC offer less then Napoli did. I can understand Darwin preferring a European league but it might take using the Saudi league as a stepping stone to make that happen after a year or two.
Milan have struggled financially recently, with lots of questions on whether they’d need to sell Maignan to raise the money they need. They have raised good money this summer for Reijders and Hernandez, and with Felix and Morata also off their wages, so maybe that sorts it out in terms of needing sales. Whether that has done enough to give them enough to make us, and Nunez, a good offer…I’d be surprised.
That’s what it feels like, but it’s rarely bad if someone you’re interested in moving on has multiple suiters.
Maybe this is one of the times it doesnt work in our favour though if interest from a big european club makes him less interested in accepting a move to Saudi.
I think thats the Italian play here. Hope that the player has his head turned and refuses to spend 52 weeks of the year on the sand and they can then try and ‘negotiate’ a fee. The Italian clubs are basically con artists at this point.
