My favourite one was the Gerrard FA cup Final. I was in London with an ex-gf. In a bar full of West Ham fans and had kept a lid on it all game. Until Stevie’s winning goal. I couldn’t help jumping up screaming and then went running down the street in delight, and kept running
Far too many outgoings imo. Far, far too many. The squad of champions has been partly dismantled. Of course, quality has been brought in as well, and potentially, we still could do fine, but I for one don’t understand why we need to make so much dealing and wheeling in one single summer, especially with what happened to Jota. I don’t find it logical to be honest.
Shame it didn’t work out for him here. Has all the physical tools, looks like he’s well liked in the squad and you can see the desperation to make it work.
Sadly just didn’t make the grade but gave us some great moments. Sad to see him take the Saudi money but not sure who else would pay us what we wanted. Hope he gets his confidence back and comes back to Europe with renewed purpose and determination.
I think it was reported back then that Slot did the same thing in his second season at Feyenoord. The team was completely overhauled according to his wishes. But you’d have to read up on that again.
Trent wanted to leave.
Diaz wanted to leave.
Jota, Rest in Peace
Nunez not good enough
Elliot not a Slot favourite
Quansah not a Slot favourite
Morton probably going to his level
Kelleher was always going to be No 1 elsewhere
Indeed, I applaud them for trying to address everything in one go when our pull and finances are at an all time high. Rather this than doing half the job and then the usual “maybe next summer”.
From this list, I’ll give you Kelleher and Trent, and Jota of course. Morton? Maybe.
We’ll see, I have a bad feeling about all these outgoings. But maybe the club is spot on by letting one third of the squad go at once? My take is that they should have made more efforts to keep a bigger part of this squad together (ie. Diaz and Nunez, who was good enough last season as a part of the squad of champions, despite of a personal low). Especially parting with Quansah and Elliot looks absolutely idiotic to me, given their young age and huge potential, and the depth they could have brought to us this season. Instead of this, we are now left scrambling late in order to find a CB, and if Elliot leaves, probably two new forwards.
But we will see. The new season is almost on us now, and results will show how we cope with all the departures. Hopefully Slot and co. will prove me wrong.
You probably need to fill up your car. They hold you by the balls, nothing you could do about that, apart from selling your car and go by foot or take public transports.
Football on the other hand isn’t vital for anyone. Taking dozens of millions of blood money for a freaking footballer is disgusting, I stand by it.
Trent<>Frimpong? Defensively Frimpong should be better
Diaz<>Ekitike? Diaz for now proven better
Nunez<>Isak? Isak should be better
Elliott <>Wirtz? Wirtz right now is better
Quansah<>Guehi? Guehi for now is better
Kelleher <>Mamardashvili? Kelleher, but Mama should be fine.
With these 6 players, only 2 of who could be seen as first pick, the overall quality has been improved. Where there could be an issue is the effect on the groups cohesion, drop in attitude/aptitude and togetherness.
You filled it with blood? I can have no realistic objection to oil money but it does seem somewhat hypocritical to then criticise other clubs for accepting it in one form or other. For me it is all sportswashing…
