Agree with the sentiment but the problem is that the game is already completely polluted by oil money - cheaty, psg, sandcastle plus all the money flowing to other clubs. At this point we are just cutting off our nose to spite our face if we decline the best offer for him.
The sporting prospect is not really there in Saudi Arabia, so if Darwin has other options he should. A big part of it will be the fee, as we won’t want to accept peanuts just because it’s a better club than the ones in Saudi Arabia.
If he is staying in Europe I’m seeing a deal to Napoli, possibly with Osimhen coming our way, and possibly with Chiesa going there too.
If he goes to Saudi Arabia it will be for decent cash, and I expect us to either go for Osimhen, or perhaps more likely, sign Ekitike.
One thing that is becoming clear is that you can get out of the Saudi league, so if Nunez goes there for a couple of years, earns a bundle and bangs in the goals, there will be another club waiting for him afterwards.
Not sure how he’d fit in with Lukaku already there - people can say what they want about him but he’s twice the striker Nunez was at any point of his Liverpool career.
That said, if they want him (and Chiesa), they can have him as far as I’m concerned - as long as they pay what they would ask from Liverpool if both were their players. Conte chose to remain there on De Laurentis’ promise of reinforcements, so I think the latter will want to make good on it.
Osimhen is another subject altogether but I wouldn’t say no to him if the price was right. He’s a trophy winner and a proven goalscorer entering his prime, who’s unwanted by his club’s volatile president. There might be a deal to be made.
If we somehow parlayed Nunez and Chiesa into Osimhen, in addition to getting a quality CB in this summer, then I am here and now GUARANTEEING that we’ll win a quadruple in the next three years.
Could see them forming a good partnership in the right formation. Darwin providing the running Lukaku was never really interested in and Lukaku providing the clinical finishing Darwin has never managed.
Of course it could easily turn into completely ineffective crap too.
Romano reporting that Al-Hilal haven’t yet given up on Osimhen.
And 150m for Al Halil or whatever.
To be paid in full, up front. Hopefully! Otherwise those guys will never pay.
The Italian sides counter with a proposal to take Darwin on loan for the remainder of his contract with LFC to cover 100% of the wages, any medical bills and pay them a monthly fee to cover room and board with an option to make the deal permanent at any point should they want to cash in and sell him on for one lira they found down the back of the sofa and a slice of pizza with potato and artichoke on ![]()
This is more the issue it’s not they won’t pay the installments it’s the Loan to buy garbage as they never buy
Napoli offer a fiat second hand and loan for two seasons 50% wage.
Club wants 60m however much they want to discuss with Nunez
If Napoli have become interested in Darwin, I wonder if that’s where the links with us and Osimhen are coming from. Could we be about to witness the elusive swap deal?
There’s a couple dominoes in the striker market that need to fall before Darwin (well at least 1 maybe 2), and I think that’s why we haven’t seen more concrete traction yet. You can’t open talks to buy your replacement until the guy you need to replace is actually out the door.
You can, but that is how you end up with Lukaku and Osimhen and have to pay one to go away to play in Turkey
€50m euros + bonuses is what we’re after according to this fellah I’ve never heard of who is supposedly quite reliable.
Would make sense that a fee of around 40 or 50m euros is likely. Clubs know we would like to move him on, he’s a couple of years into his contract, he hasnt pulled up many trees while here and will be on relatively big wages compared to what most other clubs are paying.
Alright Napoli, do the deal quickly pay us the 50m we are asking for.
