Ding Dong.....the US Politics Thread (Part 1)

We just need his acceptance speech to include the line “I’d have gotten away with it, if it wasn’t for those meddling kids” now.

How will Donald Trump be removed from the White House?
  • Winched out by a Chinook, flapping his arms and legs about
  • Packed with dynamite and left for the birds to clean up, like a beached whale.
  • As the weeks roll on, and the scale of his failure becomes apparent, he’ll leave in a dignified humbled manner, towards a future of charity work and somber reflection
  • Very much like a sugared up toddler leaving a birthday party early.
  • With as many trinkets and ornaments stuffed into his coat pockets as possible
  • He’ll avoid leaving by hiding in the wall cavities, only emerging at night to graze for scraps to eat and sign executive order
  • Some kind of twitter live stream fiasco

When does he lose his immunity status? I hope he will be picked up, arrested and locked up quickly.

Also, as a note. That the major networks are not calling this election is helping Trump, helping his conspiracy theories and it is a disgrace. He has lost. All mathematics points to it now, and this had been called days ago if Trump was not the president. All the networks are covering in fear and although I can sympathise and understand why, it isn’t right.

As long as there is still the mathematical chance, even if the probability is so small, they really cannot announce it. That may play into Trump’s hands, but only for the moment. It just postpones the inevitable and gives him a little more time to come to terms with the inevitable facts.

In every other election in the US since I was born, they have called it much earlier( not talking about time here, but mathematics) . Now they don’t because Trump won’t accept a narrow defeat and everybody knows this. But the longer this goes on, the more ammunition to conspiracy theories. Most political scientists I have read over the two last days were of the opinion that they should have called it by now, so they certainly could have. But Trump has damaged democracy to such a degree that they are too afraid.

Unsurprisingly Republicans are beginning to distance themselves from Trump and his lies/fake news. Guess the senators/governors need to protect themselves.

There has never been this huge amount of postal votes before. That’s why it takes so long. And this is a drama by their own making, just because they weren’t allowed to count these votes from the beginning. It’s ridiculous imo, but it is now what it is.

This is a sobering thought…

But the 17th Amendment established direct election of senators in 1913, and the difference in population between the largest and smallest states has vastly increased since the Constitution was written. The current Democratic minority in the Senate was elected with more votes than the Republican majority, and by 2040, based on population projections, about 70 percent of Americans will be represented by 30 percent of senators.

Wish our election parades were like this in the UK.
