That’s cynical even by my standards. Most people might be idiots (except us obviously) but mostly act with good intentions and do do good things when they can. Hanlon’s razor is bang on I think: never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by stupidity

There is a common interpretation of what is happening that positions these GOP politicians as being too scared to oppose Trump for fear of him and the base turning on them and getting primaried. But it is important to understand that unsubstantiated claims of voter fraud is GOP orthodoxy. Pointing to alleged irregularities is what they do as their justification for enacting restrictions on voting access that is really nothing more than targeted voter supersession of communities that wont vote for them. This is primary strategy for winning elections in swing districts/states.

Also keep an out out for really bad faith attempts to normalize what is happening. No, this is not what Stacy Abrams did in 2018 or what Gore did in 2000. Abrams was running in an election against the man who was responsible for setting the rules and repeatedly changed them at the cost of democratic process. In the run up to the election she repeatedly took his department to court over the issues and won on the merits time after time. There was only so much time to prosecute these cases though and so had to leave several on them on the table, and in a few cases that she won the judge said no action could be taken for fear of it interfering with the political process. When she subsequently lost a close election she made a point of stating it was not a fair election, with receipts in hand to back her up, but that according to the rules under which it was contested that she had lost and would not contest the result.
But now supposedly serious serious republicans are claiming she never conceded (because she pointedly said her refusal to fight the result was not a concession), ergo what Trump us doing is in line with accepted behavior. NOT REMOTELY THE SAME THING AT ALL.

If anyone wanted to know what crazy QAnon style twitter theories are currently going around… apparently China invaded Maine late last week with 750,000 soldiers and a bunker bomb was set off by the US Government killing 50,000.
The alternative is there was a mild earthquake in the north of the state. But that’s just insane. It was clearly a clandestine war involving nearly a million soldiers.
