But who exactly does that? The ‘riot police’ are the Capitol Hill police who were supposed to secure the building in the first place. DC police have no authority on Capitol Hill.
They need to impeach him.

I would suggest using Knock Out gas. No need for lethal force. Use it like the FSB used gas in the Dubrovka theatre hostage taking.
It is a good solution, don’t need to kill them.

I don’t actually want them to come down hard on these people outside. Arrest the ones who need to be arrested and anyone who broken in definitely needs jail time.
I’m worried about future precedent for police reactions. We have already seen the police naturally react much more violently to black people - if this ends with white people getting their heads cracked in then I’m worried what that means in six months time when BLM are on the streets again.
Unpopular opinion but locking down, evacuating the building and doing their best to de-escalate the situation is probably the best course of action right now (they should have been much more prepared, but that’s not a problem with police on the ground it’s a dereliction of duty by the seniority).

Yes, they had bombs. The number of deaths isn’t very relevant. The FSB Spetznas used KO gas very successfully. These people in the Capitol don’t have suicide vests, hardly a comparably difficult situation.

Oh yes they did, but that was because they wanted to kill some of them or not take any chances. They shot the ones with undetonated vests in the forehead, taking zero risks. Penetration of the theatre was still successful by the Spetznas team. Not sure why you people are so adamant that gas is a bad solution in a confined complex.
