I don’t think Congress will be able to get there.

Leave that to NY and others.

More than happy for his comeuppance to come from multiple sources. So long as it all sticks and the world gets to see him for what he truly is.

Thought experiment…

Would the GOP splitting between the establishment goobers and the far-right MAGA-nutters move the establishment GOP more towards the centre?

My thinking is that, unleashed, the MAGA chuds would go really fucking off the charts crazy. Would that brand then become so toxic that the GOP establishment would have to move towards the Dems in order to get anything done?

We will find out soon I think. There’s no way the right stays as one cohesive unit the way they seem at the moment. The goals and beliefs of the fractions are just too distant.

Sorry, what exactly would that look like compared to this past week?

That’s a fair question…

I guess I would answer, (armed) violence becoming the norm and supported by the politicians (see that county commissioner from NM above), Q lore finding its way more and more into the political discourse, legislative proposals that reflect their hyper-discriminatory-paranoid-unstable world view…that kind of thing.

What if the general vibe of events like the other day became normalised [edit; what if the chuds just attempted to normalise the general vibe of events like the other day], just like a hundred other bat-shit crazy things have over the past four years?

More for the right wingers to lose? I’m hoping they get into the cycle that left-wingers did recently where ideological “purity” became more important than winning elections.

I think they might already be there, given how fealty to Trump was the ideological purity (and indeed the only thing the party stood for). Now that’s (somewhat) gone, they seem not to know what to do with themselves.

Guns and grenades!!!

That has pissed me off that has!

I have swam with manatee in the Homosassa River, and the nearby Weekie Wachee River, on vacation. Crystal clear spring fed rivers, and these are magnificent, gentle, slow moving creatures.

Bastards who did that.

It’s a valid conversation to talk about the factions within the Republican Party and what it will become. It held together out of convenience while in power, but now that they are out of power it will probably split open, unless a very skilled leader emerges who can clean it up and bring it together.

Mind you…

Whisper it quietly but the Democrats will have their own reckoning to come. Biden is quite far removed from the likes of AOC, and since many millennials identify with progressive politics, you would have to think that will have its day soon.

In the meantime, Biden will do, if only to bring some decency and normalcy back to the office.

To be fair, I think Biden is already supportive on that front. He has talked about investing in the green economy, he has openly said he had wanted to give Bernie the labor secretary role and in the aftermath of the storming of the capitol he highlighted the difference in how the protestors were treated compared to if they had been black. He has also said that the economic consensus is for the government to invest heavily.

Agree with this other than I think Biden has to offer a lot more than decency and normalcy if we are going to avoid a 2024 debacle. If he’s here as a transitional caretaker, we will have massive problems.

If you vow to refer to me as Mr President @Alright_Now, I will consider investing a portion of my life outlining my agenda for you.

Otherwise, go to bed.
