Ding Dong.....the US Politics Thread (Part 1)

Michigan, Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, Nevada. All so close. I would really, really freaked out if I were closed to associated with this election.

Yeah.

As a side note, It is also Hannah Arendt’s Banality of Evil in action. The votes cast for the devil does not mean that every one of those casting those votes are evil per see, but that their society and bureaucracy is utterly damaged and that propaganda runs rampant. Selective empathy is a grave problem in the US.

Should have got lance Armstrong to deliver the ballots. I heard he was really fast when he worked for the US postal service…

Maine reelects “I am concerned/deeply concerned” Susan Collins

Just to make some of you people on this forum smile for a nanosecond, I just saw a Turkish missile go in on a counter attack, resulting in 2-0 to the Turks over Manchester U.

Again, this is the correct take on the US election so far, or at least it is precisely how I see it. The positivity of the narrow Biden win overshadowed by the fact that it will be far, far too small.

I will go out on a limb though and say that the US is worse than Hungary, at least when it comes to how divided and fractured it’s society is. The difference is that Orban has managed to control the courts, but I think few in Europe really expects Hungary to go on forever on that Right Wing authoritarian trajectory.

He’s such a baby. Whining non-stop. No idea how anyone can still mistake him for a ‘strong man’.

Yeah, it is one of the more fascinating aspects of it. Vladimir Putin could make him have a heart seizure just by looking into his eyes, yet he is a masculine idol for so many in the US:

Edit… Is this true or fake? Has anyone heard something about it?

Another edit… I just found out by myself that this hasn’t happened (yet)

Don’t disturb me. I am designing a voting board game called Magnus Opus.

I am pretty sickened by the fact that I continue to quote arch-Neo-Conservative William Kristol, but he has been admiringly firm in his principled positions since 2016 and he and Thom Nichols just speaks a lot of sense concerning this election. They cut out the bullshit and Thom Nichols in particular has been a bastion of intelligence and common sense since 2016.

Worth reading his article “The Day After”. Also a good Bulwark article a few days old called the Interregnum that was quite good. Sobering stuff from a conservative pov.
