Ding Dong.....the US Politics Thread (Part 1)

Just had a midnight snack myself. Glorious , Trump outraging and then this

This judge is already at an incredibly low level of patience with the DOJ because of other cases he’s hearing in which they have committed multiple counts of politically motivated misconduct such as altering evidence. I think he’s really close to having a public “are you fucking kidding me” moment.

Arizona will be updated at 2am UK time.

Michigan will go blue.

Hopefully that leaves Nevada tomorrow night our time.

There are a few pretty well argued takes that some of the surprise results in the Senate might be explained by the presumed certainty of the same voters had that Biden will win the Presidency. Americans hate single party power and so no matter how much one party has demonstrated their lack of fitness, many Americans will vote them back in if they think not doing so will result in a trifecta for the other party.

Just watched the Majority Report for two hours.

Lotta handwringing amongst progressives about the missed opportunity of the Senate.

Interesting, in light of my post above.

A lot of them on twitter peddling the line about how Biden was meant to help them in the Senate.

Whoops.

There’s certainly a huge whiff around that the Dems are very very stale at the top, such as has been discussed on here in recent weeks.

You’d like to think they’d learn, but they won’t

Nobody normal will miss Trump, who knows what that clown does next. As long as he lives, I don’t think he’ll retire from public life. He already half-started preparing for his defeat with that presser last night.

As for Biden… is he all good and well? I mean, without being disrepectful, can he stay alive and sane for the next 4 years at least?

:joy:

Lack of quality choices in last years…

That doesn’t stop you voting for your prospective Senator though.

The reality is that Americans are really fucking weird about their politics. They want change, but refuse to give one party power. They don’t like their congress or federal government yet incumbency is one of the most powerful factors in a congressional election. I think what we’ve likely seen is incumbant GOP senators polling poorly because of how pissed off people were with everything, but then people walking into the voting booth and deciding to split their ticket in states with a sitting GOP senator. One, it provides a check and balance, and two, it helps calm them down from not having too much change too quickly.

And then by February the same voters will sick of all of the partisan in fighting and be completely oblivious as to their role in it.

Sadly I feel the only way America will end up with a female president is if one accidently ends up in office.

He just needs to make it till January
