Ding Dong.....the US Politics Thread (Part 1)

There have been a number of new treatments of the 2000 election in Florida recently. One of the things that struck me about everyone I saw/listened to, was the lack of acknowledgement of how fucked up the attitude towards democracy was from the Bush team. The whole disenfranchising voters, playing politics with the courts etc is all treated with a wink and a nod of just effective politics. Many of the people involved are still main stream high profile people (Supreme court judges, senators, operatives, media types) who will now be asked to comment on this and will pretend that they themselves did not steal a fucking election before with exactly the same tactics the party is using again.

it is absolutely desperate. Biden is leading in three states that give him the 270 he needs, and has a good chance of overturning at least two of the three Trump leads in. Trump’s only chance of winning now appears to be disruption in those states. His recount in WI isn’t going to do anything for him as he is too far behind.

Votes still being counted and all that, but I think part of the postmortem is the summer (and autumn) of violent protests has hurt the Democrats. Just last week in Philadelphia another riot.

Another part of the postmortem, polling has been proven much less useful. There is a definite liberal bias in the polling results which cannot be denied after these two major cycles.

Yeah the recount in 2016 saw an increase of 131 votes…

It’s 20k at the moment, as for Harris I found I quite liked her when I saw her speak, wouldn’t be disappointed to see her reach high office and I think she does fit the gap between the more radical democratic wing and the more moderate.

That’s assuming AZ too yeah?

Yes, but i think Democrats maybe favoured to win 60% of the remaining votes there. Biden is 90k up with about 500k to be counted, so can get by (just) with a slightly lower %.

Nate Cohn seems convinced PA will go blue.

And Georgia has a good chance too

Are we sure they aren’t merely being driven into a feeding frenzy by the pizza boxes? The look of them…

I’m a bit biased about Georgia because I’m a big Ray Charles fan.
